Apollo launches made-to-measure shutter range

Interior Plantation Shutters have fast become one of the hottest window trends in homes across the UK (shutters are the fastest growing product in the window covering market, with more than £25m worth of shutters sold each year) and, on average, four times more homeowners now choose shutters over other window coverings.

As one of the UK's largest suppliers of made-to-measure blinds, Apollo Blinds has extended its range of window coverings and launched a new handcrafted interior Plantation Shutter collection. The new range fills a gap in the market for bespoke expert-fitted shutters made from quality hardwood timber at a price that UK homeowners can afford.

Apollo's shutters can be tailored to fit conventional and non-conventional window shapes, and colour matched to customers' requirements (wood stained or painted).

Apollo Blinds' head of innovation Helen Kilvington explains why shutters have become so en vogue: "Shutters have energy-saving properties and are extremely versatile, suiting most styles of room in modern loft apartments or Georgian town houses; but above all it's that they're currently considered simply more stylish than curtains or other shading options.

"Slatted shutters are fantastic for providing privacy while not blocking out light. This makes them a popular option in front rooms and bedrooms; but we're also seeing a massive number of consumers putting shutters in bathrooms. This is down to their simplicity and clean styling.

"Shutters can be custom painted in 'of the moment' bold bright colours like orange and citrus, or offer a classic look in white and wood stain. We can even contrast colour the frame and fittings for an even more striking look.

"Whereas consumers previously considered custom-built shutters as an expensive option, we have been able to provide a top quality shutter option that is cost-effective and accessible to all homes, not just the elite."

Apollo's shutters comes in a variety of styles, to fit any shape of window or door. Tier-on-tier shutters operate like a stable door, where one shutter sits on top of another and they open independently of each other. Bi-fold shutters are ideal for large windows and allow the shutters to be folded back. Full height shutters span the whole window to offer a seamless effect, while the cafe-style option just covers the bottom half of the window where screening is required to leave the top section exposed.

Apollo can also supply special shapes including arched or angled, full circle, triangular and sunburst shaped shutters.

Prices start at £330 per square metre for custom-fitted fully louvered shutters in a choice of white, chalk white, soft white, dark roast, walnut, golden oak and natural colours.
