Weber Flexible Tanking System Ahead of New British Standards Rules

The weber.sys protec integrated tanking system is established as a totally reliable wet area pre-tile system that enables tilers to comply with the mandatory specification included in British Standard BS5385. It consists of three components: a primer, a water-proofing membrane and reinforcing tape.

The regulations featured in part four of BS5385 require all wet rooms and shower installations to be fully sealed prior to tiling and the weber.sys protec system features a rubber jointing mesh that actually allows movement in the substrate joint without the tape rupturing or deforming. The Weber tape can expand with heat but return exactly to its original size as the wall cools without risking water penetration or damage to the tile/substrate bond.

weber.sys protec is simple to use. An application of the primer is brushed onto the jointed panels. The Weber jointing tape is cut to length allowing adequate overlaps at every joint. The water-proofing membrane is brushed onto the corners and the tape is then pushed into position over the joint. When all joints are taped and a further liberal coat of the fix solution is applied, the whole surface area of the wet room or shower is coated and protected. This is dry in one to two hours ready for tile adhesive and tiles to be installed in the normal manner with waterproof adhesive and waterproof, Mould Stop grout.

Now that tanking to the British Standard performance level is a mandatory building regulation, the flexible benefit of weber.sys protec will offer tilers a fast, efficient and reliable tanking solution with no call-backs.
