Miele Plays Host to Sales and Customer Care Course

The Miele Experience Centre in Abingdon was the venue for the latest one day Sales and Customer Care course, which is approved by KBB NTG and CITB Construction Skills.

The course, which was presented by former KBSA chief executive, Graham Hayden covered the basic sales process, negotiation, buying signals, closing techniques, body language and the ‘Wow’ factor in selling and marketing kitchens bathrooms and bedrooms and is aimed at new and existing staff involved in the sales process that want to increase sales and conversions. Over the last 2 years he has run 18 of these courses and each of the 200 delegates are asked to measure the effectiveness and usefulness of the course to their everyday role. The feedback currently runs at 91% satisfaction levels overall.

The KBB National Training Group is the first co-ordinated body of its type made up from representatives of the KBB industry who are looking to channel their support and assistance to address the skills issue. The National Training Group engages and consults with industry leaders to ensure that development of relevant training and education reflects the quality and professionalism expected by today's consumer.

‘The kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms sector has seen massive changes over the past 30 years. Where once joiners and plumbers traditionally installed kitchens and bathrooms, the focus of kitchen design is now based around electrical appliances. The sector has reached a crucial stage where markets continue to increase, but the skills needed to market, sell, design and install the advanced equipment are becoming scarcer.

‘Miele is a corporate member of the KBSA and, since I first started these courses in 2006, has hosted four of my 18 training courses,’ said Graham. ‘The company has fantastic facilities, great location and great staff that make it a pleasure to train there.’

The lucky 200th delegate was Duncan Wisman, a trainee kitchen designer from KDR Kitchens in Northamptonshire. He was presented with a limited edition Gold Miele vacuum cleaner.

‘This was such a surprise. I was not expecting to be crowned as the 200th delegate and I’m delighted,’ stated Duncan.
