Royal
Charter for IPHE
Chartered status has been awarded to the
Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, the professional body for
the plumbing and heating industry in the UK. The formal change of name
will not occur until later in the year, when the IPHE will become the
'Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering'.
The
award of a Charter by the Privy Council is affirmation of the contribution
the Institute makes to the safety and health of the public and the environment.
It also recognises the role the organisation plays in the plumbing and
heating industry, providing leadership, developing policy, raising standards
through training and education, and making members accountable through
the Code of Conduct.
Speaking at the IPHE Annual President's Dinner at the Café Royal
in London, on 5th March, the current president of the Institute, Grant
Nicoll said: We are delighted to be awarded this Charter. Congratulations
to our chairman Reg James, chief executive Blane Judd and all of the head
office team who have worked tirelessly for the last two years to secure
this recognition for the contribution our Institute makes to the safety
and health of the public and the environment.
He continued: The granting of the charter also underlines the professionalism
of our membership and in time the initials CIPHE will be recognised as
THE sign of professionally qualified and hence competent plumbing and
heating engineers.
The president also announced a nationwide campaign amongst the 12,000
members of the IPHE to promote recognition of the Chartered Institute.
Window stickers proclaiming Proud to be CIPHE have been mailed out to
all members with a letter from chief executive Blane Judd announcing the
granting of the Charter. In the letter Mr Judd said: Together we
will raise awareness of the work that the Institute and its members do
to protect the safety and health of the public and the environment. We're
very proud to be CIPHE - and we know you will be too.
