Tiling Training for the North-West
Building Adhesives Limited (BAL) has extended the scope
of its training by establishing a new Tiling Training Centre in association
with Tiles UK. The facility is co-located with Tiles UK’s Manchester
Distribution Centre and Showroom, at Montford Street, Salford. A team
of experienced professionals will offer a variety of tiling courses in
a purpose-built centre equipped with six relevantly furnished, full-size
bays, to provide a realistic environment for all training. The first course
began on February 25th.

Training Centre Manager, Dave Rowley, said: 'This new Centre builds on
15 years of BAL success in training the nation’s fixers, both at
our own Stoke and Bristol facilities and through training franchises in
Cardiff and Luton. This latest Centre brings BAL training to the doorstep
of North-West fixers, representing the region’s best-equipped, best-staffed
training facility. Much of the credit for this is due to the commitment
of Tiles UK and in particular to the drive of Ian Kershaw.'
Ian Kershaw, Tiles UK’s Managing Director, is known throughout the
industry for his passion for training and has chaired the TTA Training
Committee for a number of years. He said: 'I have long believed in professional
training as the best route to tiling excellence. Just as there is no substitute
for experience, there is no substitute for learning from experts and you
simply can not become a top-class fixer without training. I am delighted
to have such a centre of excellence opening alongside our own headquarters
and especially pleased that the training will be provided by the industry’s
most respected name. With ‘BAL’ above the door, fixers will
know that this is training to trust.'
The Centre’s full menu of training options ranges from single-week
wall-only and floor-only courses through to comprehensive training of
four or more weeks. It will enable those new to tiling to progress right
through to NVQ Level 2 and beyond, as well as offering experienced fixers
both refresher courses and introductions to specialist areas. It will
be of particular importance to those North-West fixers who have yet to
earn their all-important Construction Skills Certification Scheme card.
