New
Institute Set to Revolutionise the Furniture Installation Industry
A
new professional institute has launched to distinguish first-class, kitchen,
bedroom and bathroom installers from the cowboys, to improve the image
of, and raise the standards within, the industry.
The Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installers (iKBBI) was
created by a board of directors, comprising Damian Walters, Drew Carter
and Gordon Smith, who have 50 years of combined expertise within the industry.
They acknowledge the lack of recognition and support given to elite installers
to differentiate themselves and the need to give consumers a more informed
choice and peace of mind.
iKBBI Director Drew Carter says the concept of a professional body has
been around for many years but the idea has come to life in the last 12
months. He said: We are the industry's recognised symbol of quality
and trust, which is one of the reasons why first-class installers want
to join. KBB installers will need to apply to become members, which we
hope will result in membership for them, however, this is not for everyone
so joining is not a guarantee.
There are around 60,000 KBB installers around the UK, however, not all
of them will meet the stringent entry criteria of the Institute, meaning
that only the quality installers will become members. Members could benefit
with increased business opportunities, business support and a voice within
their industry.
The Institute has received the backing of key players within the installation
industry. Renee Mascari, CEO of The KBB NTG (National Training Group)
believes that Without an institute for installers to aspire to,
and the customer to be assured by, standards within the industry will
remain unchecked.
FIRA (The Furniture Industry Research Association) welcomes the concept
behind the new professional body. Managing Director, Hayden Davies, said:
Those involved with iKBBI have a great deal of experience in the
sector and we believe they will bring an in-depth insight with their establishment.
The iKBBI provides a much needed forum for professional installers
in this growing and developing sector.
