Smeg Announces Partnership with Breakthrough Breast Cancer

Smeg has announced its recent decision to team up with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the UK's leading charity committed to fighting breast cancer through research, campaigning and education.

In order to increase awareness for the charity and raise funds, Smeg has launched a promotional campaign whereby a 10% donation is given to Breakthrough Breast Cancer from any pink appliances sold between 1st August and 30th November. All pink products are part of the famous, retro FAB range, including the FAB32, FAB30 and FAB28 refrigerators, the DF6FAB dishwasher and the WMFAB16 washing machine.

Deciding upon a range to use in the promotion was particularly easy for Smeg. The ever popular FAB products are universally recognised as being fun and funky. The range is inspired by the 1950s era and has a distinct retro feel. Aesthetically, the FAB range is characterised by a clear retro design and the pink products within the range provide a feminine appeal relevant to the Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign in October.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer opened the UK's first dedicated breast cancer research centre in partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research in 1999 and in the next year will be opening 3 new research units in Edinburgh, London and Manchester. Breakthrough's research programme ultimately aims to eradicate the disease by discovering its causes, finding methods of prevention and developing new treatments. To help people affected by breast cancer today and in the future Breakthrough also has a 'Show your breasts some TLC' campaign which aims to encourage all women to Touch, Look and Check for all the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and attend regular breast screening from age 50.
