Camelot
House Selects Mermaid
One
guesthouse in Worthing has been awarded its four-star rating, after the
owners made the decision to undertake some renovations in preparation
for the new Visit Britain grading system. They can now look forward to
a busy summer welcoming guests into the new facilities at Camelot House.
The new accreditation system was introduced in response to increased consumer
demand and puts greater emphasis on the quality of hotels and other guest
accommodation. Stars are now the only indicator that premises have been
inspected. This replaces the diamonds that used to be awarded to guesthouses,
inns, farmhouses and bed and breakfasts.
In order to achieve its four-star status, half of Camelots guest
rooms needed en-suite facilities. Unfortunately, it was one short and
so a standard twin-bedded room was converted into a double en-suite. This
has been fitted with a shower cubicle, basin and toilet, and Mermaid wall
panels were selected for most of the surfaces in order to achieve a long-lasting
finish.
The ultimate waterproof wall panel system features in nearly all of the
other existing wash basin areas, en-suites and bathrooms and have helped
create rooms that are practical and stylish. The ten-year guarantee means
that they should also stay looking as good as long as they are maintained
and cared for correctly.
'We didnt want to become a three-star guesthouse,' admits proprietor
Martin Gregory. 'This business is really competitive and we need to try
and stay one step ahead.
'I have selected the panels over tiles as they are easier to keep clean.
A simple wipe over with a damp cloth leaves them sparkling again. There
is nothing worse than checking into a hotel room to be greeted by mould
and grime in the bathroom.
'The investment is starting to pay off already. Occupancy levels have
increased now we have an additional en-suite and we are also able to command
a higher room.'
Mermaid says that it is widely recognised as the market leader in waterproof
wall coverings. Available in three sizes, the panels are durable, resistant
to mould penetration and no grout is required for installation.
The decorative waterproof panels are also resistant to condensation and
do not chip, flake or peel. There are five collections in the range: Coastal,
Metropolitan, Mist, Techno and Tropical, which consist of more than 40
colours and finishes. To see all the different decors and find out more,
