Brabantia Helps You Recycle - In Style
Managing
your domestic waste and separating everything for recycling isn't everyone's
idea of a great night in, but in our increasingly environmentally conscious
world, it is a domestic task that's taking on much greater significance.
It needn't be a chore though, and with several new lines from Brabantia,
it can also be completed effortlessly and in style - while also helping
you to do your bit for the environment.
Because the needs of the individual and their local authority vary so
much, Brabantia's aim has been to provide a range of products that helps
people design their own waste management and separation system. These
include:
The Built-in separator for fitting into a kitchen unit
The handy 10 litre Built-in bin for fixing inside the door of most kitchen
units
A stylish stainless steel box for storing and recycling newspapers and
magazines
The Twin bin for separating compostable organic matter (or other things)
from dry waste
Biodegradable bin liners for use with compostable organic waste
The Comfort bin for compressing packaging so more waste is squeezed into
a bin liner
Brabantia has a range of waste bins comprising some 40 different products
and sizes so the style, function, shape and finish best matches your needs
and interior design
'There isn't a universal answer to domestic recycling,' says David Slater,
sales director at Brabantia UK, 'so our approach has been to create a
functional yet stylish product range from which people can choose their
own solution.'
Who's recycling what?
Different people have different needs. Whether a single person - from
a student to a pensioner - a couple, single parent with teenagers, flat
sharers, or a large family, their domestic circumstances will determine
the type and volume of waste produced, and therefore the solution they
need.
What needs recycling?
Glass, metal, paper and organic vegetable matter have long been separated
prior to recycling, but increasingly we need to separate plastic bottles,
cartons and other dry packaging; light bulbs, batteries and small electrical
items; office waste including shredded paper; and newspapers and magazines
from the sitting room or office.
Volume versus frequency
The frequency and increasingly the cost of kerb side collection is another
factor for consideration, as is whether people choose to take some of
their waste to a recycling point. Green and food waste needs dealing with
more quickly than newspapers, so small bins that can be emptied frequently
to avoid the build up of smells are needed in one area, whereas large
50 litre capacity bins are great for bulky dry waste in another.

Product summary
The Twin bin - for separating compostable organic matter (or other
things) from dry waste
The Brabantia Twin bin makes separating and recycling stylish. It combines
a twin-bin feature so that organic and compostable matter can be kept
separate from all other waste, all within a stainless steel oval body
shape thats pleasing on the eye.
The Twin bin includes two plastic inner buckets; one with a 23 litre capacity
for general waste, and a smaller 10 litre bucket for waste destined for
composting. Both bins take Brabantia's made-to-fit bin liners for easy
emptying.
The Twin bin also features Brabantia's popular and tactile 'touch-to-open'
lid system, and the robust oval body is made of high-grade chromium steel.
The stainless steel lid unit is easily removed for emptying and cleaning,
and there's a plastic base to prevent scratching the floor.
Complete with a 10-year guarantee for total consumer confidence, the Twin
bin is available in a highly polished brilliant steel look, matt steel,
or matt steel with a fingerprint proof finish, both with black detailing.

Biodegradable bin liners - for use with compostable organic waste
Thanks to Brabantia's biodegradable bin liners, householders can now take
their organic waste straight from the kitchen to the garden compost bin,
without the messy performance of emptying it first.
Made from 100% natural starch-based film, the bags are fully biodegradable
and can be disposed of along with their contents, and begin to decompose
around 10 days after being exposed to organic waste.
The bags are specially designed for use with the Brabantia Twin bin and
are supplied in rolls of 10. They retail from around £3.50 per roll.
The Comfort bin - compresses waste to make more space in the bin
Brabantia has created a new waste disposal solution that's designed to
cut waste down to size - the Comfort pedal bin.
The Comfort bin has an inner bucket with a rubberised folding top, which
allows you to press down and compact the rubbish - without getting your
hands dirty. As the volume of waste is reduced the bin liner doesnt
need to be changed as often - making it a time saving and environmentally
friendly option. Additionally, if refuse collection is charged for by
volume it will actually save you money!
Brabantia is the first manufacturer to introduce this type of compression
system. The 30 litre capacity means it's large enough to hold all your
compactable waste, such as cereal boxes, drinks cartons and packaging.
The Comfort bin retains all the features of Brabantia's popular pedal
bin including an odour proof solid metal lid, and smart hinge, which holds
the lid open if required. A non-slip base stops the bin from moving and
prevents damage to the floor, while the inner plastic bucket has special
ventilation holes to prevent a vacuum being created when changing the
bin liner. Brabantia's bin liners, made of extra strong quality plastic,
are available to fit every bin in the range perfectly.
The Comfort bin is available in brilliant steel or Fingerprint Proof matt
steel, and retails from around £64 for the brilliant steel finish
to around £73 for the matt steel finish. It comes with a 10-year
guarantee.

room, study, hobby or work room - Brabantia bins range in size from 3
litres to 50 litres capacity. There is also a vast array of finishes that
