Studio Conran has created a new collection
of wall and floor tiles in association with UK tile manufacturer British
Ceramic Tile Limited. The launch of these tiles is an exciting step by
both parties and the collaboration brings together British Ceramic Tile's
experience as a specialist in the field of glazing and textural finishes,
and Studio Conran's design expertise.
The
cutting edge tactile collection comprises six modern designs that take
their inspiration from the beautiful textures of nature within the West
Country region. The result is a collection of tiles that reflects the
classic Conran design ethos, whilst recreating the subtle visual textures
of natural surfaces and landscapes, reflected across all the region's
dramatic contrasts.
With the entire collection on show for the first time at the press launch,
Sebastian Conran, Studio Conran Managing Director, comments: ‘We
wanted to produce tiles that look truly modern and add value to interiors.
The tactile collection has a classic, contemporary style but with the
variety of ranges offers a choice of looks, textures and sizes, from subtle
to high impact, which gives real flexibility for any interior design scheme.
It has the depth and dimension that will bring character to any interior,
and we are delighted to unveil tactile to you today.

take inspiration from everywhere and all objects around us, but for me
the West Country also has a special connection and influence as I spent
a great deal of my childhood there. And the chance therefore to work with
British Ceramic Tile, who use locally sourced raw materials, and manufacture
in the region, was an exciting opportunity.’
The collection comprises a series of tile ranges each of which contains
a variety of co-ordinated looks and offers immense flexibility and breadth.
Hartland, Starcross, St Ives, Sharkham, Chesil Beach and Lamorran are
ideal for commercial environments such as hotels, restaurants, commercial
reception areas, and architectural domestic interiors.
These
high quality products are exclusive to British Ceramic Tile and include
tiles in varying sizes and colours which co-ordinate across the ranges.
Considerable R&D work has been carried out by British Ceramic Tile
for the tactile collection, which has resulted in some of the new glazes
and textures featured.

The tactile collection is also a very important step in the evolution
of British Ceramic Tile, as the collection marks its first step into a
product range specially designed for the contract and specification market.
The company's existing ranges have been targeted primarily at the consumer,
contractor, and housebuilder markets.
