Burlington
Helps Deliver Five Star Luxury
The
inherent beauty and design capabilities of one of the worlds most
sought after finishing materials, Burlington stone, are perfectly exemplified
within two of Londons luxury five-star Radisson Edwardian hotels
The Mayfair and The Sussex.
Opened
in 1927 by His Majesty King George V, The Mayfair has undergone a £70
million refurbishment programme. In the new Mayfair Bar the
epitome of style and luxury and renowned for some of the best Mojitos
and Bellinis in London Burlingtons distinguished silver grey
Brandy Crag stone flooring provides the perfect backdrop to a cosmopolitan
mix of mohair sofas, grey leather chairs and glass.
Meanwhile Burlingtons mid-green Broughton Moor stone is featured
extensively within the hotels new luxury Mayfair Health Spa. As
well as flooring, the honed stone has been used throughout the changing
rooms and wet rooms, and to create shelving within the treatment rooms.
The same stone also serves to create a backdrop of wall cladding for an
outstanding water feature.
Burlingtons Broughton Moor stone has also been used to create a
striking entrance at the Radisson Edwardian Sussex hotel located
by Londons famous Marble Arch - where it features as flooring within
the reception area.
Commenting on the specification of Burlington stone throughout these two
hotels, Michael Attenborough, Head of Design at Radisson Edwardian, said:
'The superior quality and clean, contemporary style of Burlington stone
made it an obvious choice as a finishing material for these two projects.
As well as making a striking design feature, this stone exudes an air
of luxury that is perfect for our discerning clientele.'
Burlington Slates Managing Director, Malcolm Hatch, comments: 'We
are delighted to be associated with Radisson Edwardian. In addition to
the stones obvious natural beauty, its durability and technical
properties serve to align it to the hotel environment where functionality
and low maintenance are key issues. Not only is there no colour fading
with our natural stone, it can withstand the rigours of normal cleaning
and, more importantly for spa areas, it is resistant to water damage.'
In addition to Broughton Moor and Brandy Crag, Burlingtons stone
is available in three other different colour-ways: Elterwater - pale green;
Bursting Stone - olive green and Kirkby - blue/grey. All have their own
unique appeal and sometimes feature contrasting veins and unique markings
that further add to the character of the stone.
