Smeg
Announces Improvements to Logistics Programme
Smeg
logistics drives an in-depth and multifunctional operations system whereby
customers are provided with the maximum level of quality service. The
company manages a total of 20 trucks throughout the UK and with environmental
considerations at the forefront of all decisions, vehicles are replaced
every third year. In addition to maintaining low emission levels, using
new vans helps to create a fresh and professional image, all the while
improving customer perceptions.

All
21 drivers are fully employed by Smeg, giving customers increased piece
of mind and re-assurance. For the last 18 months, many of the drivers
have been 'wet tested' and Part P registered. This service element is
unique to Smeg and these qualifications allow all drivers to carry out
plumbing and electrical tasks within households, speeding up the installation
process.
Smeg's 80,000 square foot warehouse provides sufficient space to hold
8-12 weeks stock at any one time, resulting in an impressive stock availability
rate of 98%.
All vehicles are tracked via a GPS device which allows control of the
day-day operations of logistics more effectively, enabling the allocation
of accurate arrival times and increased customer satisfaction.
Smeg appliances are available from department stores, quality kitchen
studios and electrical retailers nationwide. Consumer readers requiring
further information can call Smeg's Consumer Brochure Hotline on 0870
990 9907. Trade enquiries only should call Smeg (UK) Ltd on 0844 557 0070.
