Utopia Announces £1million Investment

Utopia has announced capital investment of over £1million in the Press and Spray room at its Bilston headquarters.

Two new Burkle presses, for the thermoform lamination of flat and moulded MDF boards using thermoplastic foils, have been purchased and are now fully operational.

One press is a stand alone flexible rotation press and the other a flowline press. The flowline press is directly linked to a Cefla spraying system, therefore fully automating this entire system.

Improvements over the previous process are in ergonomics through reduced manual handling and improved workplace layout, productivity and opportunity for new design and development. The system will of course continue to deliver the exceptional quality Utopia demands.

Joanne Brooke, Operations Director at Utopia, comments, ‘In terms of output, the new equipment will make a dramatic difference allowing us to manufacture over three times our previous capacity. Also, the new presses are much improved ergonomically, providing the operators with a better work environment.’

Additionally, Utopia is implementing a full 5S project as part of this area's investment to ensure that the best quality working environment is created and maintained.
