Cooking
Up a Treat
The purpose of today's kitchen is not
just a place to cook - it is a place to eat, entertain and relax and therefore
kitchen lighting is becoming more and more decorative.

LEDs
are being used more and more in kitchens as clients wish to reduce their
energy consumption. They are already being used under cabinets to give
a floating effect and as replacements for halogen spotlights.
Now Bath-based lighting designer Chaos Design Consultants has combined
the decorative and the practical in the one new product - an illuminated
colour-changing splashback.
The splashback is made up of a panel of special light emitting acrylic,
which is set behind a glass panel, and the illuminated colour-changing
effect is produced by using an RGB LED colour-changing array.
The panel can be set to just one colour, can scroll through the whole
spectrum of colours, or can be set to white for specific task lighting
and as there is a glass panel on the front of it, cleaning is not a problem.
The control of the panel can also be linked into a Lutron system if required.
This new splashback is suitable for both contemporary and traditional
kitchens and certainly creates the wow factor that will be
impress friends and neighbours.
