Green Issues Taken Seriously in Eco Kitchens

Eco kitchens and carbon footprints are much banded about terms, but interestingly enough consumers are starting to take things seriously. Traditional craftsmen like Cotteswood have in fact been environmentally dedicated when producing kitchens and advising customers on green issues for many years.

The company’s policy to encourage customers to buy triple rated 'A' appliances for energy efficiency is just standard practice. All of the paint finishes, lacquers and sealants used in each kitchen produced by Cotteswood are water based for minimum pollution, and even all wood off cuts in its workshop are used in its hopper and burner unit to provide 99% of the heating to its Chipping Norton showroom and manufacturing unit. Hardwoods off cuts are also recycled by providing them to the local community as a source of firelighters.

Glyn Rodney Managing Director comments ‘Green kitchens are so important today, customers ask about all the elements that go into their kitchens and we are proud to tell them the source of any item. Our deliveries are scheduled very tightly to cut back on fuel emissions and our wood is from FSC assured sources that employ their own environmental officer to ensure very tight policies on forestation are enforced. We have always been conscious of the mark we leave on the environment.’

Cotteswood specialises in bespoke handcrafted kitchens and furniture for the discerning customer.
