Ten
Marques of Excellence
Waterwise has announced ten new water
saving devices which have been awarded the prestigious Waterwise Marque.
The new products bring the total number of Waterwise Marque products to
25 across a broad range of products for saving water indoors and outdoors.
The Waterwise Marque helps buyers make more informed choices on which
water using products to purchase.
The new range now includes water efficient showerheads, drought resistant
turf, waterless urinals, water recycling devices, water butts and large
rainwater tanks as well as dishwashers, water storing gels for the garden,
a dual flush toilet, a waterless carwash, tap flow restrictors and devices
to reduce the amount of water used when flushing your toilet.
The Marque is awarded annually to products which reduce water wastage
or raise the awareness of water efficiency. The Marque was judged by a
skilled independent panel of judges, each an expert in a separate criteria
of entry. To be successful in achieving the Waterwise Marque a product
must convince the judges that it is water efficient or promotes the awareness
of water efficiency, sustainable in design, performs well and is widely
available on the UK market.
The Waterwise Marque scheme operates alongside the Water Efficiency Label
run by the Bathroom Manufacturer's Association. Manufacturers of existing
Waterwise Marque products claim the Marque is a very useful endorsement
for securing new project work and as a result have seen an increase in
sales.
'The first year of the Waterwise Marque has been very successful and we
are very pleased to see more products achieving the Marque status. There
is now a fantastic range of water efficient products available to consumers
for use both in the home and garden. By using these products we should
all be able to reduce the water we waste by up to a third saving money
on water bills, energy bills and the environment.' says Jacob Tompkins,
Director of Waterwise.
The Waterwise Marque can be found in stores on the product itself, product
packaging, point-of-sale information, product catalogues, promotional
literature and company websites.
Manufacturer's who wish to apply for a Waterwise Marque will have the
opportunity to apply this October. Please check the website, http://www.waterwise.org.uk
