Geberit Caring ShowerToilet Installed in Independent Learning Centre

Geberit’s Balena 8000 Care shower toilet has been installed in a revamped Independent Learning Centre (ILC) in Witney, with local MP and leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron on hand to officially open the centre.

The Independent Learning Centre is run by charity Guideposts Trust, which provides support and offers opportunities for people with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, those with or recovering from mental health problems and those with learning disabilities.

Geberit’s Balena 8000 Care shower toilet, which has been specifically designed to improve the quality of life for elderly and disabled people, has been installed in the café at the ILC.

Jill Bull of the Guideposts Trust, says: 'The Independent Learning Centres are designed to be as accessible as possible to a wide range of people, so the Balena 8000 Care fit in perfectly. It’s easy to use and helps some of our visitors to regain the independence that can be lost when trying to use an ordinary toilet.'

Mark Larden, managing director of Geberit, says: 'It’s fantastic to hear that the Balena 8000 Care has been chosen by the Guideposts Trust to be installed in the Witney ILC. We’re very proud of what this shower toilet offers and we hope that other ILCs across the country will soon be using it.'

The model addresses concerns that those with limited mobility have to rely on assistance from others to use the toilet by helping many to live independently and regain their dignity.

The Balena 8000 Care combines all the functions of a conventional WC and bidet with the comfort of warm air drying and odour extraction. Other features include the ability to select a variety of settings, which can be adjusted to suit individual users’ needs, and a strengthened seat, which is ideal for side transfer from a wheelchair.
