Brothers Rely on Homag
Based
at Longford in the Irish Republic, Reilly Brothers was established in
1979 to design and make quality fitted kitchens and bedrooms. The company
has expanded steadily since then and now employs over 30 people while
remaining a family owned concern.
Partner
Michael Reilly says that the companys customer base has expanded
to cover both the whole of the Republic and Northern Ireland with important
customers on the UK mainland as well. Reilly Brothers manufactures fitted
furniture for its own ranges as well as offering a fully bespoke service
for customers at the middle and top end of the market. We are able
to supply kitchen and bedroom furniture for 3 bedroom semi-detached houses
right through to €50,000 installations for country mansions
explains Michael Reilly.
Reilly Brothers has always had a policy of investing in fit-for-purpose
and state of the art production equipment which has seen the company develop
a long standing and fruitful relationship with the Homag Group through
Andy Jones.
While always investigating the whole machinery market when upgrading the
companys facility, Michael Reilly says that Homag has become a preferred
supplier and technical partner as the company is always able to provide
tailored solutions, reliable and accurate machines and excellent back-up
and service.
The latest machines to be supplied and installed by Homag have arrived
over the last 3 months as part of a significant single order and are both
specialised and equipped to the customer's specification.
To upgrade its panel sizing capacity Reilly Brothers has installed a Holzma
HPL380 rear loading precision beam saw with a special Ergomat de-stacking
device fitted at the outfeed squaring fence.
The Holzma was chosen not only for the current and future capacity but
also for precision cutting of MFC and long term accuracy. Holzma is the
world's largest manufacturer of beam saws and has developed cutting edge
system, innovations and solutions to maximise output. These include sophisticated
software-driven optimised machine movements and cycle times such as optimum
movement of the pressure beam and positioning of the patented shark's
fin side alignment device. Dimensional accuracy is delivered by
a combination of the side alignment systems and the precise positioning
of the programme fence which uses contactless magnetic encoding that offers
long-term precision. The chip-free cut - so essential for seamless edgebanding
- is ensured by the patented Holzma mono-rail saw carriage guidance system
which guarantees absolute alignment of the scoring and main sawblades.
The
second machine installed is a Brandt single-sided KDF770-2C edgebander
which is a very special hybrid model embracing a Homag top belt pressure
feeding system and an EVA and PUR gluing system. The Brandt has a feed
speed of 20m/min and offers a maximum edge thickness capacity of 15mm
which Reilly Brothers will use for including solid lippings in the companys
designs. The edgebander is also fitted with a Ligmatech ZHR-05 panel return
device making it a truly one-man operation.
To complete the system, a Weeke BHX500 throughfeed machine has been installed.
With 35 drills, an X+Y grooving saw, a powerful router, and multi horizontal
drills operating from top and bottom simultaneously or individually. This
allows dual panels to be drilled and processed on a tandem or purely individual
basis with, once again, true single operator control and the option of
auto feed and off-loading. The Weeke BHX500 has proved one of the most
instantly popular and best selling CNC processing centres worldwide. It
offers enormous flexibility and very high output.
With these new high-tech Homag Group machines in its workshops, Reilly
Brothers is now positioned to move forward to its next phase of expansion
by delivering greater design scope and ever increasing quality.
