Keeping Pace with Sir Ian on 200 Mile Walk for Leukaemia

PWS' Chief Executive Mark Stephenson is pairing up with Sir Ian Botham on a 200 mile walk through 9 towns in 9 days to raise money and awareness for leukaemia research. Mark is in an extremely privileged position as he is the only person walking every step of the way with Sir Ian.

This is Sir Ian's 12th charity walk for leukaemia and promises to be the most successful as for the first time there will be special 'off-road sections' where members of the public can join Sir Ian, Mark and some of his celebrity friends. The route of the 9-day challenge takes in Taunton, Windsor, Tunbridge Wells, Bury St Edmunds, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Llandudno, Harrogate, Milngavie and Durham between 10th and 18th October.

Comments Mark Stephenson, 'I am honoured to be the only person walking alongside Sir Ian who since 1985 has dedicated so much of his time and energy to raise money for leukaemia. In 1985 the survival rate for children with leukaemia was 20%. As a direct result of the research funded by Sir Ian's efforts the survival rate today is 80% and rising. He expects that within his life time this will rise above 95% providing he can keep the money rolling in and his wish is for this to be his greatest legacy.'
