Show Commitment and Support for KBSA at National Meeting
KBSA members turned out in force to support
the KBSA at the national meeting which was held at the Ricoh Arena in
Coventry on 9th September. More than 50 people attended the meeting, with
31 retailer members being eligible to vote on the special resolutions
to increase subscriptions and incorporate the TrustMark fees into retailer
membership from August 2008.

Mike Ashton new national chair and Tony Nicholas
past national chair,
We
are absolutely delighted that both retailer and corporate members made
clear their commitment to the KBSA by returning proxy votes and attending
the meeting, said newly elected national chair, Michael Ashton of
Boulevard Kitchens.
Not only did they find the time to vote but they accepted all of
the resolutions with overwhelming support so that we can proceed with
our exciting plans for the future.
We have already begun the legal work required to update the restrictive
Memorandum & Articles of Association and CEO Graham Ball outlined
the important member initiatives that we have in hand that will improve
our service and increase benefits for members.
The general meeting was held alongside the BCG xl Big Tour meeting as
will a series of other regional meetings throughout the rest of September
and October.
Graham Ball said, I am very pleased that we had such active support
from our retail members- who outnumbered the corporate members by 3:1
- a first for a KBSA AGM/GM.
We are grateful to our newly elected corporate vice chair Chris
Honer, MD of BCG for supporting us and working with us to make this meeting
and the forthcoming regional meetings a success.
The KBSA is the only trade association that represents the independent
KBB retail sector in the UK and there has never been a more appropriate
and exciting time for members to re-new, and for non-members to join.
Stuart Carter from TrustMark also spoke at the meeting. He gave a presentation
that demonstrated how KBSA members will benefit from the recently achieved
TrustMark status, highlighting national media coverage and increased web
traffic in particular.
