Global
Player Takes to the Field Ahead of 2012
Amica,
leading Polish manufacturer of built-in and freestanding kitchen appliances
with it's own football academy in Wronki, Poland, has already begun demonstrating
its support of the 2012 European Championship, with the recent sponsorship
of a fixture between two youth teams - one from the UK and one from Poland.
13 players from Old Town United of Swindon under-16's, along with five
senior club members, a Wiltshire County FA football development officer
and parents travelled to Poland for the match against Amica Wronki Juniors
in the 5,000-seat Amica Sports Club Stadium, with a stay in the company's
Olympic Hotel and some sightseeing, taking in a pro-fixture along the
way.
Chris Webb, United's under-16's coach and general manager of Iceland Appliances
- Amica's largest retail customer - was a pivotal figure in arranging
the event. He said: Although we would have preferred to be on the
right end of a 3-0 result, playing against Amica Wronki in a venue that
previously played host to a friendly Poland v Estonia match was quite
something. We're extremely grateful to Amica for giving the boys the opportunity
to play in a national stadium.
