Generator Continues to Expand with Homag
With
now over a year of trading behind the company, Kent-based Kitchen Generator
has experienced great success and growth following setting up production
with mainly Homag Group machines. Darren Mace and his wife Tara set the
company up to supply mainly bespoke kitchen carcasses of very high quality
to customer specification.
Darren
Mace has extensive previous experience in the industry - particularly
in the area of production - and had established a valuable working relationship
with Homag UK's Charles Smith, even before Charles joined the Homag UK
team at Castle Donington. I've always been able to rely on Charles'
advice and judgement when it came to machines and materials which is why
we originally set up the basis of our production cell with a Brandt single-sided
edgebander, a Brandt shaped edgebander and Weeke Venture 1 CNC machining
centre.
Back at the start Homag helped us establish Kitchen Generator with
the companys excellent finance package and has continued to back
us up in terms of service superbly. When Kitchen Generator was established
Homag UK also supplied a high quality sliding table panel saw for cutting
and dimensioning boards and panels.
Darren Mace has achieved the growth and success thus far on the basis
of a quality product (high accuracy) and an excellent service in terms
of order lead times and deliveries. As his customer base extends he has
found that the company is under pressure in one particular area - cutting
and sizing panels.
Once again Darren Mace has relied on Charles Smith and Homag UK for a
solution and this has resulted in the recent installation of a Holzma
HPP350 beam saw to replace his sliding table facility.
Our main criteria were to increase capacity for the present and
the future - we're looking to supply to a 2 week lead time, to ensure
consistent accuracy and a chi-free cut, and to be able to cut to order
no matter the order size, explains Darren Mace.
Darren Mace's previous beam saw experience has always been with Schelling
machines but once Charles Smith had detailed the performance and advantages
of the Holzma saw he was more than happy to place the order.
Holzma is the world's largest manufacturer of precision beam saws and
continues to develop systems and innovations at the cutting edge that
give their customers distinct advantages.
Among these are fully optimised cycle times throughout all saw movements
like the height of the pressure beam and positioning of the unique (patented)
shark's fin side pressure alignment device.
Dimensional accuracy is delivered by a combination of the side alignment
systems and the positioning of the program fence which is via contactless
magnetic encoding. Holzma has long been able to guarantee a perfect chip-free
cut - especially on the MFC used by Kitchen Generator - with its fabled
(and patented) mono-rail saw carriage guidance system which ensures absolute
alignment of the main and scoring blades.
Darren Mace says he's absolutely thrilled with the installation and performance
of the Holzma HPP350: We're able to now cut panels in books of 2
or 3 and our capacity problem has disappeared. The Homag installation
was faultless and the follow-up and back-u has been great. Once again,
choosing Homag as a technical partner has been the right choice.
