Maytag
Offer ends in Acrimony over Bid Rules
Having
already received one offer which valued the company at $16 a share,
Maytag appears to have been somewhat wrong-footed in dealing with a
subsequent offer which raised the stakes to $18 per share. Both offers
were made by VC consortiums, and Ripplewood/Triton, which made the first
offer is now crying foul on Maytag's response to the second offer and
demanding to be able to walk away from the table with $40m in compensation.
