Indesit Suffers in 2005 but Plans Big 2006

Indesit has reported its 2005 First Half and Third Quarter results, which make for fairly grim reading. H1 Sales were pretty similar to 2004 but pre-tax profits were nearly halved, while Third Quarter net profits were down nearly 70% on the corresponding period last year.

The group is expecting cost cutting measures to bring this back on track next year, with more raw material and production resources from 'low-cost countries'. It has also rolled out, at a customer jolly in Marrakesh, a next generation washing machine - the Aqualtis - which it expects to be selling a million of by 2008. It will be a Hotpoint product in the UK.

In another interesting development this week, easyquote, the kitchen and bathroom software arm of the Mereway group of companies, has announced a management buyout.
