Insurance Against Future Changes?

Some intersting news this week from the KBSA, which has introduced a new insurance package for its members in anticipation of increasing regulation in the kitchen and bathroom sector:

‘We believe that the time is right to introduce this new insurance because the market place is changing and consumers are looking for even more added protection and peace of mind. The Government has also focused on this sector and is preparing to launch Trust Mark, which will require three way insurance cover to be offered by all approved firms.

‘Whilst the KBSA is supportive of the Government scheme and hopes to be granted Trust Mark status in 2006 we wanted to press ahead with our own enhanced insurance for members.’

What is the Virtual Bathroom Academy?
I have mentioned in previous columns, the great work that the BMA is undertaking to help the people of our industry to raise the standards of service that we offer to consumers. We began to do this by writing the Generic Industry Guides, which are a reference work that anyone working in our industry can read to enhance their knowledge of bathroom products and good quality installation.
We have also published our intention to create a Bathroom Academy. It is this last point that I’d like to talk to you about this week . . because I think that it is important that we all understand the purpose of the BMA’s Bathroom Academy.
