Innovations
The mighty ISH comes to an end tomorrow,
and we have been on the exhibition website to pick out a few of the
more striking and interesting innovations from the show. These include
an illuminated showerhead from Hansa, an air system whirlpool
from Hoesch, an infrared tub from Neoqi, some highly unusual
toilet seats from Pressalit and a new method of trap attachment
from Villeroy & Boch.
In similar vein, our Product of the Week this Week previews some highly
innovative products from Blanco which can be seen a bit nearer
home, at the Ideal Home Show, in London. One particularly clever
concept is a tap which incorporates a heat sensitive light, which changes
the colour of the water from hot red to cool blue as it flows.
We think all these ideas are wonderful, but we might restrain ourselves
from calling them world firsts, after bringing the wrath and derision
of the august BRE upon us last week over Twyford's rimless
toilet (see below).
The
World's First Rimless Toilet!

was amazed to read that Twyfords had produced ‘the world's first
rimless toilet’ in your publication. I have been aware of such
WCs for over 30 years and some of the best performing pans in the past
have been rimless. Rimless pans have been specified in hospitals and
prisons for decades for hygiene and security purposes. I hope that you
will be more careful with the claims in the KBzine in the future.' John
