Methven
to Acquire Deva
As part of New Zealand
based tap and showerware manufacturer Methven's strategic growth
plans in Europe, it has entered a conditional agreement to buy Lancashire
based Deva Tap Co. for a reported £26m.
'We have long achieved excellent growth in what is a competitive UK
brassware market,' explains Deva Managing Director Rob Pryde.
'Our success is founded on a quality, cost competitive offering and
responsive customer service under a capable and committed management
team which will remain with the business. And like Methven whose
Australian tap and showerware sales were up 54% for the year ended 31st
March 2007 we too have a sound track record of profitability.
Two stories this week show Indesit to be at the cutting edge
of innovation. First was the launch of the Moon washing machine at an
event in London's Covent Garden which can only be described as 'unconventional',
with the advertising campaign supporting the launch bordering on eccentric!
At the 2007 Corus and Design Wales Eco Design Awards, meanwhile,
Indesit Industrial Design team leader Darren Holmes was especially interested
in a multi purpose washing machine that cleans plates and clothes by
Peter Feakes from Glamorgan University.

After our Customers by Looking After the Environment
One
of the major issues for retail success is to provide the customer
with what they want. This used to encompass providing the
right products/brands at the right price with the required
levels of service. For kitchen, bathroom and bedroom retailers
the current hot topic is environmentally friendly products
and business practices and these are now firmly established
with consumers as part of the buying process.
