Wolseley Financials Show UK in Good Health

Wolseley has issued its pre-close trading statement for the five months ending December 31st 2007, and it shows a serious decline in North America, where the group has recently announced it is to shed 3000 jobs. With revenue down around 10%, and trading profit even worse at some 40% down, the group is looking for quick savings in the US.

'Whilst the liquidity squeeze has particularly affected the USA, consumer uncertainty is also having some impact on European markets' says Group Chief Exec. Chip Hornsby. However, good performances were recorded in the UK, the Nordic region, Switzerland and the Netherlands, offset by lower profits in France, Austria and Italy.

Meanwhile, another dozen exhibitor offerings are added to our KBB 2008 Preview which is now building a real head of steam with only five weeks to go. This week, we add the following exhibitors to our Preview: Articad, Bathomatic, Bisque, Clearwater, Dansani, Deva, easyquote, Hardy Inside, KitchenAid, Manrose, Maytag, Shires and Sensio Lighting. Our ongoing list of exhibitor stand descriptions, meanwhile, can be found here.

Finally I'm not sure how old the photo of this Hackney based white goods emporium is, but it made me laugh!
