Bradfield Parish By Brookmans English Furniture

British furniture designer and manufacturer, Brookmans has recently launched its new kitchen furniture range, Bradfield Parish.

Bradfield Parish follows the Arts & Crafts movement of design with delicate but not over-ornate styling, yet still sympathetic to the period home. The cabinetry is available in a choice of finishes including hand painted or from mature hardwoods such as Sycamore, Oak, Maple and Cherry.

Brookmans Cooking Overmantel, the signature of a Brookmans kitchen, has a clock carved into the overmantel face. To retain an authentic feel low-level side tables with tapered legs and other freestanding furniture are also incorporated into the design possibilities such as the island unit shown with chopping block and preparation sink.

Brookmans specialises in using traditional and quality craftsmanship, which is demonstrated in the detail, including trays and drawers made with contrasting wood butterfly joints, crockery drawers with adjustable wooden pegs to make the best use of the available space and woven baskets for fruit and vegetable storage. To complete the kitchen, there are cabinet handles available in a contrasting timber in a curved bow design.

Clean living with Marbrex

The Marbrex internal cladding system from Swish Building Products is both decorative and hygienic. The attractive panels are especially suitable for kitchens and bathrooms as they conform to the Food Safety Act 1990, the General Hygiene Regulations 1995 and achieve a Class 1Y fire rating.

Available in a whole range of different designs, the versatile panels can be easily fitted to walls or ceilings, even over existing tiled surfaces. While tiling requires grout, which can stain and harbour mould and germs, Marbrex has waterproof tongue and groove joints that do not require grouting, producing a surface that is easy to clean. Marbrex can also be installed in about half the time it takes to tile.

Marbrex has a honeycomb structure which helps to insulate the room and so reduce condensation. This in turn helps to discourage the growth of mould. Marbrex can withstand temperatures of up to 60oC and can be fitted behind hot water pipes and radiators. It can also be installed behind cooker hobs when protected by heat resistant glass.

Available from a national network of stockists, Marbrex wall panels are available in 2.6m and 2.7m lengths with ceiling panels of 4m, and come with a comprehensive selection of fixing trims to ensure a professional finish. Some designs take decorative strips in gold and silver to form striking highlights between panels.

Franke Launches New Sinks

Franke has recently launched three new sinks, including the Nautilus which has 'slide and glide' accessories.

Nautilus Range

New undermounted sinks in stainless steel are the LAX 160 - the largest 11/2 bowl model available to fit within a standard 600 mm base unit. For a more rounded shape, the new CPX 160 is in the Compact design made popular by Franke's inset model. The new models benefit from a single cut-out for 11/2 bowl configurations to provide a continuous wet area.

Belfast BFX 710

Putting a modern twist on traditional design is the new Belfast sink BFX 710 in stainless steel, which offers all the design benefits and big-bowl capacity of a Belfast brought right up to date for a contemporary setting.

Glamour in Wellmann's new Kitchen

Wellmann's new w5-310 is a glamorous new kitchen that combines surface brilliance with gold accessories. High gloss white laminate doors and drawer fronts are given a reflective sparkle thanks to an angled profile along the vertical edges. This reflects the light like the facets of a jewel and works particularly well when combined with full length glazing panels as seen on the wall cabinets. Optional gold handles, rails, tile detail and accessories complement the high gloss white.

This kitchen uses Wellmann's new cabinets. The 'intelligent drawer system' has a cushioned self-closing action and optional beech dividers form compartments of the desired size. Up to 10% more storage can be obtained with translucent side extensions. Wall cabinets are now deeper, yielding around 12% additional space. Corner solutions, ergonomic pull-outs and varied height cabinets are available so that designers can plan a safe kitchen that best suits the individual user.

Wellmann kitchens are available from the company's franchise of 38 In-toto showrooms plus selected independent kitchen specialists. Wellmann has a dedicated contract division to handle builders' orders.

New Designs for New Wave

Tableware manufacturer Villeroy & Boch continues to challenge the perception that plates must be round and has added some new designs to its already popular New Wave range, part of the company's Metropolitan Collection.

The Metropolitan Collection was introduced to meet the needs of the more design-conscious consumer who aspires to 'loft living' simplicity. As people are becoming more adventurous with the food they serve, they are looking for more unusual ways in which to present it and traditional plate designs simply don't meet the mark.

New to the range is a soup cup with its own saucer, a bowl, egg cup, a new coffee cup and saucer, dinner, pasta and deep plates, and a candleholder. Each piece comes in white porcelain and holds true to the adage 'less is more' in design terms. Shapes are designed so that they can fit together almost like a jigsaw puzzle to create an interesting buffet table or simply stacked for a dramatic place setting.

Villeroy & Boch cutlery, tableware and glassware is available from quality department stores and independent outlets. For brochure/stockist information call 020 875 6060.

For trade enquiries only call 020 8871 0011.
