Perfect Doors with Perfect Corners - No Joints

The Cupboard Door Company is a small family business, which has been making handmade original kitchen doors in a skilled specialist joinery environment since 1976. As the times change and things move forward the company decided that to keep up with the industry it had to move its business forward too.

Due to this The Cupboard Door Company has invested heavily into its business in the last two years, in new technology including a Master-wood Winner 2.4 CNC Machine. This Machine now makes all of the company's doors not only much quicker but also out of one piece of high impact moisture resistant MDF board.

'In the country there are lots of CNC Machines, but we have been told by Master-wood that with the programmes we have written no one else can produce a Shaker, raised and fielded, Farmhouse Moulded and many more doors like ours with the traditional five piece square intemal look. With this we can achieve a one piece door with no joints for cracking and no more out of square doors which is just what the industry needs - there is no comparison!'

Mercury Appliances Ltd Teams Up with Edwin Loxley Ltd

Mercury Appliances Limited showed its appliances with bespoke kitchen furniture designers and makers, Edwin Loxley Limited of Nottingham to create one of the kitchen settings at the recent Kitchen Showcase held in Islington, London. Mercury Appliances showed the Mercury range cooker in Wedgewood blue and the Mercury modular grill in stainless steel.

The company says that the Mercury range cooker has been an on-going success since its launch in January 2000. It was shortlisted in 2001 for the Homes & Gardens V&A Classic Design awards and in 2002, was ane of the intemational winners of the Good Design Chicago Athenaeum Award.

This range cooker was created by designers Seymour Powell working alongside Mercury's skilled design and manufacturing team who together created the blend of good looks and practical features to enhance any kitchen. Sleek and minimalist in design, yet robust in manufacture, the Mercury range cooker offers quality, style and performance.

Hand crafted with attention to detail, the cooker has a one piece pressed stainless steel hob with three 3kW burners, one 2kW burner and a powerful 5kW triple ring wok burner. The hob features heavy duty cast iron pan supports in a cattle grid arrangement which allows cooking pans to be moved safely across the whole hob area. There is a large (88 litre) multi-function event oven and a slightly smaller (52 litre) weekday oven, both fitted with removable stay clean liners and heavy gauge chrome plated wire shelves.

A separate dual element grill compartment with a smooth roller carriage adds to the cooker's stylish originality. Ergonomic machined anodised hi-fi style control knobs allow precision control for all the cooker's functions. Choices of finish are reflective stainless steel or warm cream, niello black or petrol blue enamel.

The Mercury modular grill, launched this year, has a stainless steel finish and its powerful radiant element offers a choice of inner or complete grilling areas. The two positions for the grill pan and the reversible grill rack can be adjusted for any thickness of food to be cooked. The smooth operating roller pan carriage, the same as that in the Mercury range cooker, slides out to expose the entire grilling area so that food can be safely tumed with the grill pan in position.

Night Sky's the Limit for Whitehall

Whitehall Fabrications Limited, the UK manufacturer of luxury surfaces, was commissioned by Symphony to manufacture and install the Corian® worksurfaces in one of the company's kitchen displays at this year's inaugural Kitchen Showcase at the Business Design Centre in London.

Whitehall installed a Corian® colour called Night Sky on Symphony's luxury Mirari kitchen display. The installation comprised a series of worktop sections with a particular highlight of an oval breakfast bar and dining table. Suspended above, on a chrome pole system, were a minimalist series of shelves all made to measure in Corian®.

Stuart Daniels, sales director, Whitehall, commented:
'We were delighted to be working with Symphony, not only to support the Kitchen Showcase with its focus on ground-breaking design and innovation, but, of course, so that we could demonstrate the beauty and versatility of Corian® in the kitchen'.

The Night Sky display which was on show at the event is estimated to have a retail value of around £4000 and is one of over 70 different colours regularly installed by Whitehall in kitchens large and small across the country.

Whitehall is one of the UK's largest and longest established fabricators of luxury work surfaces, supplying over 750 high class kitchen and bathroom retailers.

Whitehall supplies and fits granite, Corian® as well as a new product called Luxore® - a new range of engineered quartz stone worksurfaces comprising natural quartz and high performance polymer resin. Whitehall says that Luxore® is non-porous, colour-consistent and highly scratch and chip resistant.
