Why relaxing in a VitrA bath is also peace of mind

* VitrA-bath_sml.jpgWhat do people consider when buying a bath? Shape, size, maybe colour... but not much else. They wouldn't normally ever think about the bath's construction and how that will affect the eventual comfort and pleasure in use.

Leading international bathroom products manufacturer VitrA make a huge range of acrylic baths but each differs from other bath makes in a number of important ways.

VitrA UK's Darren Paxford is a self-confessed 'geek'. He says that the construction of every VitrA bath will deliver extra pleasure from the actual fitting to the long lasting blemish-free internal surface and solid full-surround base that will not issue the normally uncomfortable creaking when getting in and out.

Darren explains: "It starts with the material... We actually export the finest acrylic from ICI in the UK to Turkey - it's the best in the world.

"The sheets are heated to make the pliable and then placed over the vacuum mould. We actually blow them out into a convex shape to get even stress before sucking them into the final concave shape. Then we spray with 100% GRP polyester and add the all-important 12mm marine chipboard base and frame and then fully reinforced once more with 100% GRP.

"The most important stage is the first and second hand rolling for the perfect surface. This is where we get rid of any air pockets which otherwise could make the final product creak."

Darren says that the company never pre-drills tap holes, allowing the end user to choose the position - hence the total surround frame. He says that even the legs are of superior quality, being steel galvanised on the inside and outside. The clever VitrA wall fixing system means that at any time after installation, if the bath needs detaching from the wall, this will not involve the removal of tiles and the nightmare of then trying to re-match the exact hue.

So there's more to lying in a steaming bath surrounded with scented candles - you could have the expert knowledge that you are in the perfect vessel...
