Home Décor acquires Optiplan Kitchens and Manor Cabinet Co

Bedroom furniture supplier Home Décor, has acquired Optiplan Kitchens and the Manor Cabinet Company. The move significantly increases the size of the group and enables Home Décor to offer a more integrated KBB range to both consumer and trade markets.

Home Décor, which has its head office in Sheffield, manufactures and installs fitted wardrobes and sliding wardrobe doors direct to consumers through its Spaceslide brand. It also has a substantial trade business supplying to the new build residential market and trade and DIY retailers.

The Optiplan and Manor businesses will now come together to form a separate kitchen business within Home Décor. Optiplan sells handmade kitchens from a network of showrooms across the South East, while Manor Cabinet Company designs and manufactures bespoke kitchens which are sold through Optiplan showrooms, via Manor's own retail outlets and direct to architects and housebuilders.

The new group will be headed-up by Home Décor's existing CEO Max Crosby-Browne. Home Décor's current commercial director Mark Gledhill has been appointed sales & marketing director of the new kitchen business and Neil Martin joins Home Décor as sales director for its bedroom business. Neil was previously sales & marketing director at Moores Furniture Group. Optiplan's directors Gareth Jenkins and Bernard Deasy and Manor directors Terry McPartlan and Irene Smith will all stay on in the short-term to help oversee the integration.

"This acquisition is a hugely exciting move and an important strategic step in achieving our growth plans," says Max Crosby-Browne. "We will now have two distinct business units which together can offer customers a more integrated KBB offering. The three businesses are a great fit in terms of culture, product offering and market sectors."

Optiplan's managing director, Gareth Jenkins, adds: "The Optiplan board has been considering various future options for the company and believe that the deal is a very positive one for our people, our customers and for the continued success of the business. Our focus is now on working in partnership with the Home Décor management team to ensure a smooth integration over the coming weeks and months."

Manor's Terry McPartlan adds: "Manor and Optiplan have been working in partnership for over 20 years so it seemed like a natural step for the two companies to merge as part of the Home Décor acquisition. We have been hugely impressed with Home Décor and believe Manor will continue to go from strength to strength under the new ownership."

Home Décor is now a £50m turnover business employing around 350 staff. No redundancies or office closures are expected as a result of the deal.
