Testing ultra thin tiles for strength and cutting ease

* Domus-Kerlite2.jpgDomus, the commercial tiling specialist, used interactive displays and information screens to highlight the benefits of the latest ultra-slim porcelain tile technology.

The product demonstrated was Kerlite, which comes in sheets up to 3000 x 1000mm and is just 3.5mm thick. The ultra slim format utilises 70% less raw material than traditional tiles, less energy and CO2 emissions to produce, less  adhesive to fix and less packaging and transportation compared to thicker, heavier tiles!

Stand visitors were invited to test the performance of Kerlite with a ball-drop test to show its strength and we also watched a cutting demonstration to show how easily the product can be shaped. In fact, Kerlite ticks all the boxes for specifiers as it is also available in a wide range of colour finishes, including  simulation stone and wood, plus the large sheet sizes allow for quick and easy installation.
