Abode supports the Ochre charity this Christmas
For the past few years Abode has been wishing its customers and distributor partners 'Seasons Greetings' with a merry e-Christmas card. Instead of spending money on hundreds of Christmas cards, the caring Abode company has helped many people by donating money to different charities.
This year, Abode is making a donation to the registered charity Ochre, which promotes awareness of oesophageal cancer. This is in memory of Abode's media buyer, Bob Williams, who worked with Abode since its inception in 2002. Bob bravely fought his cancer last year and never lost his sense of humour or his cheeky smile.
Ochre intends to encourage research into the causes of oesophageal cancer which is now the fourth highest cancer killer in the UK and to develop information and support services for patients and their families.
The charity is attempting to change this situation and has recently been instrumental in the purchase of a state-of-the-art system, LIFE-GI, now in operation in a Glasgow hospital.
Each system costs £39,000 and is capable of detecting cancerous cells at a very early stage - thereby offering vastly improved chances of survival to oesophageal cancer patients.
