High-visability water hose makes for safer building sites
A range of bright orange, fluorescent, heavy-duty hose products specifically designed to reduce trip hazards on building sites is being launched by specialist hose manufacturer, Hozelock next month.
The fluorescent Hozelock Maxi Hi-Vis hose stands out brightly on the floor of a construction site, whether in full sun or poor light, so making it less likely that workmen or site visitors will trip over it.
According to the Health & Safety Executive, a third of all major injuries reported each year are caused as a result of a slip or trip*. Trailing hosepipes are always a potential hazard but they are also essential for concrete mixing, bucket filling, equipment and surface cleaning, plumbing work and many other routine site jobs, so increasing the visibility of hose to reduce accidents will be welcomed by tradesmen and employers alike.
Designed to withstand all the rigours of building site usage, the four-layer braided Maxi Hi-Vis hose has a 9 bar working pressure specification while burst pressure is rated at 27 bar. Bearing clear graphics to identify it as a water-carrying hose, its thick yet flexible outer PVC layer is highly resistant to scuffs and abrasions - even if repeatedly run over by heavy plant - and the hose remains fully flexible in temperatures ranging from -15 to +60 degrees C.
The product comes in three forms: a standalone 3/4in 25m hose with fittings and adapters to fit to standard half-inch taps and attachments; a versatile hose reel including 25m of 1/2in hose, and a heavy duty metal hose cart with 50m of 1/2in hose.
The basic 25m Maxi Hi-Vis Hose Starter Set is supplied with 1/2in and 3/4in tap and hose fittings, adapters and a jet spray nozzle, ready to use.
A free-standing reel which can also be wall mounted, the Maxi Hi-Vis Hose Reel has a tubular alloy frame, a convenient winding handle and comes with 25m of 1/2in fluorescent hose, a nozzle, tap and hose connectors and all necessary wall fixings.
The third option is the Maxi Hi-Vis Metal Hose Cart with ribbed wheels for easy manoeuvrability over uneven surfaces. Made from heavy gauge steel tubing and electro-plated for lifelong corrosion resistance, this tough cart has a comfortable 900mm high towing handle and a parking stand which keeps the cart stable when the hose is pulled out. It comes pre-assembled with 50m of 1/2in fluorescent hose and an accessory pack comprising a nozzle, tap fittings and hose connectors.
