Trustmark achieves 'Social Enterprise' recognition

TrustMark, the Government-endorsed quality mark for tradespeople, has been awarded the Social Enterprise Mark in recognition of its not-for-profit business, which helps consumers find reliable and trustworthy kitchen and bathroom installers. TrustMark joins other ethical businesses that have also been recognised by being awarded the Social Enterprise Mark such as the Age UK, Eden Project, Big Issue, the Phone Coop and Fifteen London.

The Social Enterprise Mark Company is the only authority that certifies genuine social enterprises, which have society and the environment at the heart of their businesses. Social enterprises plough the majority of their profits back into activities that benefit people and planet and are working to make a difference across the UK. The company aims to raise awareness of what social enterprises do in order to get more people to buy from, engage with, start up and work for social enterprises.

"We're really pleased to have TrustMark recognised as a Social Enterprise," says Liz Male, Chairman of TrustMark.

"TrustMark was set up six years ago with a clear remit to help protect consumers and signpost them to reputable firms. The role of Social Enterprise is incredibly important at a time when central government funding for consumer protection work is limited.

"Having the Social Enterprise Mark tells people we genuinely have the public interest at heart rather than being driven by commercial motives."
Lucy Findlay, Managing Director, Social Enterprise Mark Company, advises: "We are delighted to award the Social Enterprise Mark to TrustMark. Social enterprises come in all shapes and forms so it's great to see a vital organisation such as TrustMark understanding the importance of being part of the wider social enterprise movement."

TrustMark is the Government endorsed not-for-profit quality mark for tradespeople. It is an independent scheme owned and operated under licence from the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

TrustMark's website has an easy to use UK wide postcode search facility, which provides details of more than 20,000 licenced trades and has the largest database of accredited tradespeople in the country.

All TrustMark firms technical skills have been independently checked through on-site inspections to ensure a high quality of workmanship and trading practices, thereby reducing the risk of employing cowboy builders and rogue traders.

TrustMark firms work to Government endorsed standards and are able to offer insurance backed warranties and deposit protection, as well as operating a user-friendly complaints procedure.
