PJH pedal power helps 'Get Jed Mobile'

* pjh-ride.jpgEmployees of the Bolton-based, PJH Group, dug out their lycra and mountain bikes in September to pedal the streets of Greater Manchester as part of a fundraising cycle ride to raise vital money for local fund, "Get Jed Mobile."

Covering a gruelling 72 km cycling circuit, taking five hours to complete, the team raised more than £1,400 for the 'Get Jed Mobile' fund - a cause launched to help 10-year old Jed who is confined to a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy, get a motorised wheelchair costing £22,000. It is hoped the balance raised by the PJH team will complete the target which currently stands at just over £20,000.

The cyclists were joined by Jed's parents and friends of PJH Group and the route took a football theme, starting at the Reebok Stadium, home to Bolton Wanderers, followed by Manchester United's Old Trafford, then Manchester City's Etihad Stadium, then Bury FC's Gigg Lane Stadium and finally back to the Reebok.

Jed's parents launched the fund last year, allowing two years to reach their goal of £22,000, but due to an overwhelming amount of support and fundraising activities, they are way ahead of schedule and should reach their target in just one year.

Lucy Wood, marketing executive at PJH Group, who completed the cycle ride, says: "72kms was a huge challenge for us all, but the entire day was a fun, rewarding and inspirational experience! Jed cheered us on throughout the day and the new wheelchair will change his life, allowing him to have his independence to manoeuvre around school and home freely."

10-year old Jed is a very intelligent young boy, attending mainstream school where he keeps all his classmates entertained with his fantastic sense of humour. His favourite subjects are history and geography and he has a tremendous appetite to learn.
