FIRA - CMA achieves renowned testing accreditation
The Furniture Industry Research Association's Hong Kong furniture testing facility, FIRA-CMA Testing Services, is celebrating after achieving accreditation to the International Standard ISO 17025 from the Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme for Physical and Mechanical Testing.
FIRA-CMA now becomes HOKLAS accredited test laboratory number 209.This accreditation scheme is the equivalent to the ISO 17025 accreditation issued by the UK Accreditation Body (UKAS) and held by FIRA's UK testing facility. The HOKLAS accreditation is an independent validation of the high standards of testing and competency of FIRA-CMA, adding further re-assurance that testing carried out to FIRA-CMA is to the same high standards as FIRA UK
"FIRA-CMA has seen a great deal of growth over the past year and with the HOKLAS accreditation it is evident that the testing centre is of the highest standard," says Jonny Westbrooke, FIRA International's Chief Operating Officer. "Receiving this accreditation is a great achievement, and we are sure that this will result in new clients using their services."
FIRA-CMA's accreditation covers the structural testing of indoor and outdoor furniture and beds. FIRA-CMA also offers structural testing of children's furniture and flammability, performance and chemical testing of fabrics and foams.
Having products FIRA tested before bringing them to the market can save all sectors of the furniture industry - manufacturers, importers retailers and specifiers alike - both the time and the large sums of money involved in rectifying, withdrawing or replacing products.
