Today, Ideal Standard is launching its new Boost shower packs, offering consumers a powerful, reliable shower designed to enhance performance in homes with low pressure systems.
Innovative and practical, the shower valve boosts water flow in low pressure areas, giving a much higher flow rate than an electric shower. The result is excellent showering performance in a sleek package, particularly suitable for bathrooms that are often unable to use conventional thermostatic showers including guest rooms, en suites and attic bathrooms.
Boost allows homeowners a power shower without requiring a fitted pump; it works by using the power from a main pressure cold water supply to give a strong, yet controllable shower from a low pressure hot water supply. This is achieved using the Venturi effect - when high pressure cold water passes through an orifice and pulls hot water into the throat of a Venturi cartridge. The mixture then accelerates down the tube, producing a high yet controllable flow rate.
Aside from the obvious advantages of having a powerful, reliable shower as a result of this technology, homeowners will also benefit from the economical cost of Boost. With no necessity to fit a pump, the cost of an electrician is eliminated along with the installation costs. Furthermore, when comparing showering performance and whole life costs between Boost and an electric shower - Boost is the clear winner.
