IDS updates Tuscan solid wood worktop range with new timbers and top notch eco-credentials

* Oak-60mm-Tuscan-Solid.jpgIDS has updated its popular Tuscan solid wood worktop range with two exciting new timber finishes and one of the industry's finest specifications for being environmentally friendly. The new range was launched on February 1st with a refreshed 16 page colour brochure, sample display stand and a direct mail campaign to kitchen retailers.

The range offers nine timbers in total including Cherry, Country Beech, Iroko, Maple, Oak, Prime Beech and Walnut, with two superb new timbers in Brown Ash and Bamboo in the premium 40mm thickness.

Brown Ash offers a warm yellow tone and appealing wide grain that gives the worktop an elegant appearance which, like oak, can work well with a range of doors and interior styles. It's available in 3000/4000m x 650mm worksurfaces and a 2400 x 950mm breakfast bar.

The other newcomer is Bamboo which boasts the highest environmental credentials around. Naturally renewable, grown in abundance and 100% sustainable, Bamboo not only ticks all the boxes for being environmentally kind but also offers an interesting design alternative to the usual timbers.

The horizontal surface combines warm colouration with gentle knots and this is complemented by the edge detail of the worktop which features a block effect created by the layering of the pressed bamboo. Bamboo is available in a 3000 x 650mm worksurface and a 2400 x 900mm breakfast bar.

Respect for the environment is a key feature of the range reflecting IDS's commitment not to buy timber from countries that do not comply with international agreements or fundamentally sound forestry practices. Species are certified with both FSC and PEFC certification, the two most widely respected environmental standards in the industry, and are further backed by IDS's own environmental stamp, guaranteeing responsibly sourced timber.

Tuscan worktops are available ex-stock from any of IDS's twelve branches. Retailer POS includes a new 16 page brochure, updated with new lifestyle images of the two new timbers and product information. There is also a brand new display stand that sits neatly on the countertop and features a mixture of small and large blocks to show the timbers off to their best advantage.

Says Rebecca Slinn, marketing manager:

"The Tuscan solid wood worktop range offers the full assurance of a product that is bought and sold with total respect for the environment and this gives retailers an increasingly requested and valued point of differentiation."
