Bushboard

* Bushboard.jpg'Sensational surfaces for kitchens and bathrooms' said it all on the Bushboard stand as the company previewed its latest designs and innovations in laminates, solid surfacing and a new man-made stone brand.

Bushboard marked out its distinctive approach to surfaces with a stand packed with innovative and design-orientated new products for retailers and designers from its extensive portfolio of kitchen worksurface and bathroom surfacing brands.

It also marked out its stand representatives with distinctive uniforms, which we felt was a great idea. We know from experience that sometimes, when a stand is busy, it's difficult to pick out the representatives from the visitors, so Bushboard easily solved the problem as our picture shows.

* Bushboard-M-Stone-quartz.jpgThe team talked us through what was an exclusive preview of the brand new M-Stone quartz worksurface range and new products planned for the Prima laminate range ahead of their summer launches, together with design highlights from the Encore solid surfacing, Omega laminate and Nuance bathroom surfacing ranges.

M-Stone is the brand new quartz product that underlines the company's promise to compete in the granite sector of the market for the first time. Drawing on Bushboard's expertise and knowledge of worktop trends and consumer demand, M-Stone will be launched in four key designs in black, brown, white and cream - the volume sellers in the granite sector.

The team explained that M-Stone differentiates itself in this sector from any other brand by being a product that installers can cut, joint and fit on site. Shaped corners can be formed and any sink style can be fitted into the product including inset, undermount or Belfast. Bushboard will be running free training days at its new conference, showroom and training facility in Wellingborough where retailers and installers can learn the skills needed for a professional installation.

Said Stuart White, managing director:

"Quite simply M-stone is quartz you can fit! Our Encore solid surface product blazed a trail in the industry with its ready-made components and easy installation benefits when it was launched in 2007. Since then we have trained more than 2,000 installers and the product is displayed in over 2,000 retail showrooms nationwide. M-Stone builds on that successful formula and opens up significant opportunities for retailers to provide affordable solutions in the granite sector and broaden their earnings potential."

M-Stone man-made quartz material is available in a solid 25mm thickness for worktops and breakfast bars with upstands and hob panels in 12mm. Worktops are available in 3050 x 650mm and 2100 x 900mm, upstands in 3050 x 100mm and the hob panel is 1310 x 900mm.

Encore solid surfacing, relaunched in Summer 2011, was also on display, showing its latest addition of integrally undermounted sinks and four Crystal Quartz designs, together with its clever design and installation flexibility for a ready-made component range.

Encore's sink system, which allows undermounting directly into the standard Encore worktops, has been enhanced by the addition of two moulded sinks. Available in single and one and a half bowl models in 100% pure white acrylic, they guarantee the highest levels of hygiene and performance being durable, non-porous and inherently robust enough to cope with the high speed demands of a waste disposal unit. Some 19 styles of undermount stainless steel sinks from key industry brands can also be fitted using a clever single jig system developed by Bushboard, eliminating the need for expensive separate sink modules.

We were told that 14 designs are available on Encore with the latest additions being four Crystal Quartz designs in black, white, cream and glass. The designs re-interpret the classic popularity of granite and stone, yet with the distinct advantage of a smooth and seamless flow of material which is high performance and easy maintenance. The designs feature a random opaque chip giving the surface a luxurious visual depth which combines well with both heritage painted doors and contemporary styles.

Encore is available in an extensive choice of components. Worksurface blanks are supplied factory-edged on the two short sides and long front edge and are available in 4100 x 650 x 44mm. Breakfast bars are edged on four sides, with one square and one bowed end in an overall size of 2400 x 900 x 44mm. The clever 2m x 650mm x 40mm component has a dual purpose; minimising waste when used as a worksurface or for creating slab ends on a run of kitchen furniture. Upstands come in 3600 x 100 x 12mm; midway splashbacks in 4100 x 600 x 5mm and hob splashbacks in 1220 x 1200 x 5mm.

All Encore products are surfaced in 5mm compression moulded acrylic ensuring superb performance and durability, together with easy maintenance. The product is guaranteed for 10 years.

Visitors were also treated to a preview of the new Prima laminate worktop range ahead of its summer r-launch. Staying true to its core brand principles of classic design, there are several new designs for worksurfaces, splashbacks and upstands.

The True Scale designs, with their full scale print proportion which mirror luxurious top end granites, have been extended with stunning newcomers such as Carrera Calcatta.

The elegant graining and colouration is expressed with a level of realism that demonstrates the sophistication of modern laminate. Other designs include Fossil Stone, Breccia Paradiso and Roman Travertine. The Radiance texture is being extended to this range too and will also include the crisp Q3 edge profile and a choice of the ready-made shaped components for breakfast bars, tables and curved corner furniture, as is currently available on the company's Omega range.

The Omega laminate worksurface range demonstrated its credentials for being the brand of innovative design, with its clever Q3 edge profile, shaped components, eye-popping splashback colours, on-trend designs and empathetic surface textures..

Q3 offers a crisper and squarer front edge to the worktop with a tight 3mm postformed radius on the top and underside of the edge, creating a superb linear aesthetic akin to slabs of natural stone, granite or wood. It is the result of a £2m investment made on a brand new postforming line at their Wellingborough site in January 2011. Q3 features on all nine new designs, as well as a selection of Ultramatt woodgrains and Hi Gloss granites including the hugely successful Quartz family.

In September 2011, nine brand new designs were added to Omega making a total offering of 52 worktop and upstand decors, along with a collection of 42 splashback designs. The new designs centre on natural materials with superb terrazzos, granites, slate, blocked walnuts and washed woodgrains offering exceptional design scope for contemporary, modern and the growing trend for heritage painted furniture.

Roche is a brand new texture which mirrors honed slate with a matt tactile surface, while three high impact citrus colours for 'glass look' splashbacks are guaranteed to inject fun and fashion to a kitchen scheme.

Two ready -made shaped components offer another level of design freedom for the retailer and are available on six designs tipped as top sellers for the range, which are: Tessera Cream, Slate, Blanc Megeve, Lima, Quebec Oak and Antique Block Walnut. There is a 4100 x 650mm worksurface with a curved corner at each end which works beautifully with curved corner cabinets that are currently very on-trend to create a more affordable package for those without the budget for solid surface or quartz. There is also a 3000 x 955mm breakfast bar with a double radius end, ideal for island units or a low level table for casual dining.

Omega designs are available in five sizes of worksurface and breakfast bar in 3 & 4m lengths, three sizes of splashback size and one for upstands.

Finally, the Nuance bathroom surfacing range showcased its choice of laminates and solid surface worktops and wallpanels in a fashion-led palette of 33 designs. Two room-sets set the scene for just how design flexible and aesthetically pleasing this range is for modern day bathrooms. Full and half height wallpanels, vanity worktops and unique postformed edges on panels mark out Bushboard's advantage of Nuance being a completely extrusion-free system. The other clever feature is that the wallpanels are inherently 100% waterproof thanks to their patented core board which is exclusive to Bushboard in the UK. Panels and worksurfaces are available in a choice of sizes and when fitted by a trained installer carry a 15 year guarantee.

Professional merchandising packages on all of Bushboard's products are available to retailers, with the additional benefit of them being tailored to suit the profile and needs of the individual studio.
