The Furniture Ombudsman at the annual Trading Standards Conference

The Furniture Ombudsman will again be present at the national Trading Standards Institute Conference, which this year will be held in Manchester from 26th - 28th June. The annual conference brings together hundreds of local and central government professionals who have an interest in Trading Standards and consumer affairs in the UK.

The Furniture Ombudsman will be part of the 'Trading Standards Business Members Group' stand, alongside other Group businesses which include Dixons, Halfords and Thomas Cook.

This year, TFO will be partnering with its local Trading Standards service, Hertfordshire County Council at the show. TFO has held a long standing relationship with this authority and its Assistant Director of Community Protection, Guy Pratt, for a number of years. Guy is the Chair of TFO's Standards Board, which acts in an advisory capacity to assist TFO's in its role and effectiveness. He is also Chair of the Association of Chief Trading Standards Officers.

"By exhibiting at this year's TSI Conference we can raise further awareness of our organisation amongst those working within consumer affairs and Trading Standards, whilst also sharing the message that TFO exists to assist both the consumer and the furniture industry," explains Kevin Grix, Head of The Furniture Ombudsman. "Our presence at this year's TSI conference provides us with a great opportunity to explain how furniture retailers have committed to inspiring consumer confidence by pledging to abide by our code of conduct as part of their TFO membership."

The Furniture Ombudsman is becoming increasingly well-known, with more and more consumers consulting TFO's website to find out if a retailer is a member before making a big ticket purchase. TFO offer a variety of services to the furniture industry, including a legal advice line, a range of legal courses, and also an independent dispute resolution service.
