Showerlux UK

Coventry based Showerlux UK ceased trading from its Coventry base in Sibree Road on 23rd August 2012 with 16 staff being made redundant.

Tim Corfield of Walsall-based Griffin & King, has been appointed by the director to assist in calling meetings of members and creditors with a view to placing the company into liquidation this month.

Showerlux's majority shareholder is a Swiss company which has not expanded its support in view of the company's ongoing losses and the further outlook of the market.

Showerlux was incorporated in the UK in 1973 and had a successful manufacturing and wholesale base in Coventry for many years, with over 160 employees at one stage. As products became available to manufacture at a cheaper price from Asia, the manufacturing facility ceased operation and the company was left with a core staff to import and sell to wholesalers and retail outlets. There were 16 staff on site dealing with importing and distribution of products, sales and administration.

"This is a sad day for the company, its staff, its customers and its suppliers," said Bob Bowler, the director, as the announcement was made. "I am sure that the Group is exploring ways and means to provide an aftersales service for our customers in the UK."

Tim Corfield from Griffin & King stated it was too early to say what the outcome would be as regards creditors, but that he would be looking for offers for the company's available assets.
