Electrolux hosts CookIt! competition for children in its fully kitted HO training kitchens

Electrolux says it is delighted to be hosting the fabulous CookIt! competition for children in its fully kitted training kitchens at the company's Luton Head Office.

Cook It!, the Guild of Food Writers' children's cookery competition, is part of a national children's food and cookery education campaign launched by the Guild of Food Writers in 2003.

Cook It! is asking young cooks aged between 10 and 16 to create a two-course meal to impress their friends. The best in each age category will win a four-night family break in the seaside village of Sandsend near Whitby, North Yorkshire.

The finalists will be invited to recreate their winning dishes in an exciting cook-off at the Electrolux Training Academy in Luton on 20th June 2013 in front of a team of judges. They will cook on the latest state of the art appliances recently launched by Electrolux, one of the world's biggest domestic appliance manufacturers. The Electrolux domestic appliances from its Inspiration range have been inspired by Electrolux's experience as supplier of equipment to professionals (over 50% of Michelin star restaurants in Europe have Electrolux appliances in the kitchen).

The winner's school will win too! Each winner also wins a one day visit from the Electrolux Mobile Training Academy for their school. A fantastic cookery session in this stunning mobile cookery unit will allow their school friends to enjoy delicious cookery demonstrations. They will also win some fabulous small kitchen appliances for their school's food technology kitchen. The four runners-up will each win a Powermix Pro Blender and a selection of cookbooks.

Vanessa Holloway, Trade Marketing Manager for Electrolux comments: "Electrolux is keen to support budding young cooks and to encourage cooking as a life skill. We're happy to host the final of the CookIt! competition as it gives the children a chance to use the latest in cooking appliances, induction hobs and steam ovens in the Electrolux Inspiration Training Academy at Luton.

"They will also learn more about the importance of energy efficiency in appliances - another topic about which Electrolux is keen to educate and inform. These cutting edge appliances are niche at the moment, but we expect them to grow into mainstream appliances in the future as more people become aware of the many benefits induction and cooking with steam offer."
