Tile Depot helps transform Home for the Brave

Tile Depot is delighted to have helped significantly change the lives of two British soldiers by donating the tiles for a brand new wet room in a make-over by designer, Ty Pennington for a brand new five-part television series for the Home channel.

The UK's largest independent tile and stone retailer offered the donation of tiles, grout and adhesive after hearing about the Homes for the Brave series, in which Ty's mission was to radically improve the homes of five soldiers, who had recently returned with serious injuries from some of the world's most hostile and dangerous places.

One of the homes in the series is that of housemates, Tyler Christopher and John Le Galloudec, better known as 'Frenchie'. Frenchie was shot in the spine in Iraq, and Tyler lost both of his legs after being seriously injured in Afghanistan. Their home was in need of work and it also required some adapting to make everyday life easier for Tyler in particular, who now uses a wheelchair.

The kitchen and Tyler's bedroom and en-suite shower room were transformed in the makeover. The shower room became a wet room, with everything accessible for Tyler.

Being a small room, tones of cream and beige were chosen in a ceramic natural stone-look tile. Using the tiles on both the floor and walls of the wet room created a heightened feeling of space and the room has a timeless charm, brought about by the light natural stone effect finish of the tiles.

"Wet rooms are highly desirable for their uncluttered elegance and simple sophistication; great for providing a clear floor space which opens up a room and is easy to clean," points out David Fitzgerald, Tile Depot's operations director. "With nothing to trip on or get in the way, wet rooms also provide an ideal, very practical bathroom solution for the elderly and less able. We're pleased to show some support for our soldiers and are delighted to have been involved with the programme, which made it all happen."

Tile Depot stocks a selection of excellent stone-look ceramic tiles. Vega is a new ceramic tile of 25x40cm with a cream, stone-look light cappuccino finish for a natural effect - a perfect choice for a relaxing bathroom, wet room or shower room environment. Vega is now available at all 15 branches of Tile Depot in London and the South East.

Tile Depot offers a massive choice of wall and floor tiles in ceramic, porcelain and natural stone as well as wooden flooring, under floor heating, adhesives, grouts, trims, tools and accessories to take away today.
