Make a Statement with Decorative Radiator Valves from Pegler

Pegler has recently introduced a new range of decorative radiator valves that the company says combine elegance with reliable performace.

The new valves are part of the well respected Terrier range of plumbing accessories and deliver all the quality and performance suppliers have come to expect from this well respected brand.

'As radiators become more of a feature within the home rather than just a functional product, the demand in the industry is now for greater aesthetics,' said Pegler Product Manager Geoff Matthews: 'Architects, interior designers and homeowners are all now demanding a blend of beauty and performance and Pegler is among the first to be responding to these changes in the marketplace.'

There are six valve types available in the new range, which includes manual and thermostatic types in a variety of styles: wheel head, lock shield and TRVs. These are available with both angled and straight connectors and offer the flexibility of horizontal or vertical installation.

Finished in polished chrome for that extra touch of elegance, with a cross section of styles to suit all radiators.

The valves are available for connections to 15mm pipe sizes, with some selected 10mm sizes and lockshield valves are also available to fit these pipework sizes and to match all three valve types.

All Pegler's plumbing and heating control products carry the famous Pegler 'watertight' guarantee and the quality assurance of BS EN ISO 9002, BS5750 or the British Standard's 'Kitemark.'

150 Year Anniversary of the Humble Radiator and the Hot Box is Still Going Strong

While it is commonly claimed that the Romans invented the central heating system, the accolade for inventing the first radiator, aptly named the Hot Box, goes to Franz San-Galli, a German living in Russia in the mid 1800s. Over a century and a half later, MHS now sells its own popular Hot Box but it is remarkably different from its original namesake.

Ian Bradley, Managing Director at MHS Radiators, said: ‘Over the years, the tendency has been towards making radiators less conspicuous but today's trend is to really make a statement with your radiator. That doesn't necessarily mean selecting the most contemporary model on the market, as a more traditional model can have equal impact.‘However, if you are tempted to decorate in a Victorian or Edwardian era, don't be inclined to buy the old cast-iron variety from reclamation or salvage yard. These will not offer the performance or energy efficiency assured by modern engineering and sourcing missing valves can often be an added complication.’

The Hot Box

The sleek, angled contours of the stainless steel Hot Box offer a stylish contemporary solution to bathroom heating, coupled with the practicality of effective storage capability. Each box delivers an output of 364 watts providing a comfortable and stylish approach to heating towels.

The New Clasico
The chic New Clasico combines a contemporary grace and sleek curves with a slim column design. It is available in heights ranging from 288mm to 870mm, and offers the complete versatility of being primed ready for painting or finished in one of MHS's beautiful RAL colours.

New Radiators Offer Gentle, Energy Saving Heat and Improved Air Quality

A simple way to save energy in the home is provided by the electric radiator from the Corner Fridge Company, which offers an economical and stylish method of heating all rooms - without affecting air quality.

The Solaris® glass radiator distributes heat evenly across a flat glass panel. The radiant heat emitted is immediately felt by the body as it does not rise.

The gentle heat provided does not dry the air or circulate dust particles because there is no fan and no resistance in contact with the ambient air. This creates a clean and healthy atmosphere, which is important when you are concerned with the quality of air in the home.

The radiant heating creates a more uniform temperature from floor to ceiling, with a difference of only 1°C between an average floor to ceiling height. Even when switched off, the radiator will continue to radiate a gentle heat for a long time.

Because heat convection is limited you don't have to overheat for comfort. This means that you can lower the thermostat by just 1°C and make an energy saving of 6%.

The visible decorative surface is made of extra strong glass and is available in a range of enamelled colours. The radiators can be fitted horizontally or vertically and a number of sizes and different power outputs are also available.

Details of the full range are available on the company's website at http://www.warmcorner.co.uk. Warm Corner is a trading company of The Corner Fridge Company.

New Models Strengthen Ideal's Icos Range

Ideal Boilers has further strengthened its icos HE range of high-efficiency heat-only boilers by introducing two new models - the icos HE 30 and icos HE 36.

The two new models are compact in size and retain many of the general features of the icos range, including fully modulating operation and a wide range of fluing options. Both models are SEDBUK A rated and have high-efficiency levels which will meet all the requirements of Part L2 of the Non Domestic Building Regulations, which comes into force in April 2006. With outputs ranging from 10.4 to 30.1kW for the HE 30 model and 10.4 to 37.0 kW for the HE 36, both models are suitable for either larger domestic properties or smaller commercial installations.

The company says that in keeping with the rest of the icos HE range, the new models offer flexibility of siting, ease of installation and advanced reliability. As well as standard concentric horizontal and vertical flues, optional 80mm diameter twin-pipe fluing offers significantly longer lengths that can be run either horizontally or vertically. This means that the icos HE 30 and HE 36 can be installed much further away from the outside wall and will fit safely and unobtrusively in almost any situation. Both models also feature LED diagnostics for fast and easy servicing and maintenance and are light weight for easy transport and installation.

The icos HE 30 and HE 36 are both automatically controlled, fan-flued high-efficiency boilers and modulate heat output to suit the demands of the heating load. Both models also incorporate a variable thermostat for CH temperature control, adjustable from 30°C to 82°C. Awkward site condensate drainage can be overcome using the optional Ideal condensate pump kit.
‘Ideal prides itself on offering the widest range of HE wall hung heat-only boilers,’ commented Dave Simpson, marketing director, Ideal Boilers.
‘Within the icos range there are now six models to choose from ranging from 12 kW to 36 kW and offering installers more choice for a wider variety of installations. Building on our existing range of icos HE boilers, the two new models feature well proven design technology offering both simplicity and reassurance for installers and end users alike.’

Both models benefit from good system tolerance thanks to Cast Aluminium heat exchangers and modern styling means each model will complement any interior. No cupboard ventilation is required.

Each model is 645mm x 450mm x 400mm and has an installation weight of 52.6 kg.

Bristan Turns Up the Heat on Towel Rails

As part of the brand's development into new product areas, Bristan is now offering its customers a full range of heated towel rails.

The new Bristan Towel Rail collection is designed to offer its customers as much choice as possible, with designs to complement everything from a contemporary chic look to classic elegance. What's more a broad selection of sizes and heat outputs are also available to ensure that the Bristan portfolio has a solution for each and every application and budget.

Commenting on the new market sector Judith Gibbons, Head of Marketing for the Bristan Group adds: ‘We recognise that customers purchase a towel rail based on 4 different criteria: design (to match their bathroom scheme); size (to physically fit into the available space); output (to heat the bathroom) and price. The importance of the reasons may change from customer to customer, but 'style' is in pole position and that is why it has been of paramount importance in the creation of the Bristan Heated Towel Rails range.’

Style and Environmental Credentials in One Radiator?

With new targets set by the Government to encourage individuals and businesses to recycle, MHS’s new Decoral Ten radiator means householders hoping to ‘do their bit’ for the environment, do not need to sacrifice on aesthetics. This contemporary radiator brings together the benefits of recycled aluminium with designer style, to create a practical and beautiful heat emitter.

Ian Bradley, MD for MHS Radiators, said, 'Nearly four million tonnes of aluminium were scrapped in the EU during 2004, so recycling the material can only be positive for the environment.'

Recycled aluminium is also not the only reason that this radiator has less impact on the environment: it is also extremely energy efficient with a better ratio of size to output than a conventional steel panel radiator of identical dimensions.

Aluminium is also a solution for homeowners looking to be creative with their heating systems, offering far greater potential for unusual and original shapes and styles.

For those who love column radiators but don’t really have the space, Decoral Ten is the futuristic alternative.

Stelrad Radiators Flying High with Launch of New Concord

As homeowners continue to get on board the designer radiator phenomenon, Stelrad Radiators has launched its latest designer offering, the Concord, to help installers cash in on the growing trend.

Part of Stelrad's new Lifestyle range, the Concord collection includes four models - the Slimline, the Vertical, the Plane and the Lo-Line model. Each model will provide a stylish yet practical heating solution for any room in the home and is available in a wide range of sizes and colours.

With its flat tube design, the Concord Plane offers an alternative to a standard radiator design, creating an up-to-date and simple look, while providing practical and efficient heating. The Concord Slimline and Vertical designs are also suitable for creating a focal point in any room, from a living area with contemporary furnishing to a modern office space.

In contrast, the Lo-Line model is suitable for odd-shaped or restricted areas. This discreet, space-saving radiator will fit neatly underneath low shelving or window sills and creates a minimalist look.

‘Homeowners have really bought into the designer radiator craze,’ said Ian Taylor, business development director, Stelrad Radiators. ‘They are no longer merely interested in the practical function of a radiator and are instead looking for products that will transform their homes. For installers this can only be a good thing. The potential profit margin for designer radiators is huge and the success of this market is proof that consumers are prepared to pay a considerably higher price for high quality products. Our new range of Concord designer radiators will provide homeowners with yet more choice and installers with the potential to make even more profit.’

In addition to the Concord collection, Stelrad also offers a wide range of panel and designer radiators.
