Lawcris
and Wilsonart take a 'Soft' Approach to 2007
Panel
products distributor Lawcris has teamed up
with Wilsonart International to introduce
the 'Soft Wear' range to its 2007 collection of laminate.
Laminate
Director Ian Matthews said: Each year Wilsonart produces a small
range of laminates predicted to dominate the marketplace. The 2007 range
focuses heavily on mineral surfaces such as concrete, marble and slate
to provide a modern minimalist look which is popular with architects and
designers.
The launch of this new collection marks a ten year partnership mile stone
for the two companies and Lawcris attributes this success to a mutual
work ethic which focuses on a committed work force which places its customers
first.
Lawcris Managing Director Simon Hall said: We are working within
a highly competitive market so it's important to have a close working
relationship with your suppliers. Lawcris and Wilsonart are both working
towards the same end, and our successful relationship is down to team
effort.
Over the last 12 months Lawcris has seen considerable growth in the high
street market from customers such as Boots, Marks & Spencer and Pizza
Hut as laminate retains its attraction based on its superior wear resistance
and Lawcris offer a full pressing and machining service this has resulted
in increased volume of supplies by Wilsonart.
Lawcris also currently supplies two of Wilsonart's best selling laminate
collections - The European range and the Chinese range.
The European range offers high end customers over 100 unique colours and
combines durability with easy maintenance and affordability to make it
a highly competitive laminate brand for the shop fitting, kitchen market
and construction sector.
The Chinese range provides buyers with 32 high pressure decorative laminates
colours. Launched just two years ago this cost effective range of laminates
is a suitable choice for the contract furniture market.
Looking further into 2007, Lawcris Laminate Director Ian Matthews said:
In addition to clients looking for a minimalist look we believe
that dark and natural woods such as Walnuts, Wenge and Zebrano will also
continue to be popular next year.
Easy accessibility to stock means Lawcris can offer a delivery turn-around
time of 24 hours.
BLFA
Brochure Explains Benefits
The
British Laminate Fabricators' Association
(BLFA) has just published a brochure giving comprehensive reasons for
using decorative laminates within interior design projects.
In addition it explains the benefits of choosing a BLFA member for the
fabrication of laminates to create reliable interior elements and furniture
components. The brochure was launched to great acclaim at the BLFA's 40th
anniversary of incorporation dinner in November.
This ten page full colour A4 brochure has an RIBA library reference for
easy filing and illustrates striking examples of decorative laminates
in a wide variety of applications. New surface technology, environmental
benefits and specifications are outlined.
It is emphasised that BLFA members offer clients real peace of mind as
they work to a strict code of practice and require a technical audit prior
to membership approval. Components from BLFA member companies are thus
less likely to suffer expensive failure. In that unlikely event, the association
offers a conciliation service.
For a free copy of the brochure, e mail info@blfa.co.uk,

IDS's
Tuscan Worksurfaces Offer 60mm Thickness
Recognising
the fashion trend to thicker edges, IDS's
new Tuscan solid wood worksurface range breaks new design ground by offering
oak and beech in 60mm thickness.
Oak and Beech timbers are consistently the most popular species with designers,
combining well with traditional and contemporary style kitchens.
Says Rebecca Slinn, marketing manager at IDS:
Thicker edges make a huge design statement and so far they haven't
been available in solid timber. This gives designers the same freedom
as with other top end worksurface materials.
IDS's new Tuscan range brings together an upbeat design choice, 60mm edges
and an unrivalled range of size specifications.
No other range currently offers a choice of 2m, 3m and 4m lengths, 600,
665 and 900mm widths and thicknesses of 28mm, 40mm and 60mm.
With 10 species to choose from, Tuscan can satisfy the diversity of design
styles around.
Wenge, Walnut and Sapele strike the exotic top notes, in addition to classic
favourites including oak, ash, beech and maple.
Tuscan worksurfaces are crafted from premium quality timbers with a 40mm
stave construction ensuring high performance and durability.
All products are available ex stock from any of IDS's 10 branches nationwide.
A new 24 page colour brochure is available.

Italian
Classical Look to Rearo's New Shower Panel Range
Rearo
Laminates Ltd
has drawn on the inspiration of classical Italian design when choosing
several of six new exclusive decors for the companys popular Showerpanel
range.
They
include Florence Marble - named after the city known as the capital of
the Renaissance - and Genoa Marble - after the city once described by
Flaubert as the City of Marble.
The other new decors produced exclusively for Rearo by Polyrey, the laminate
manufacturer, are called Honeystone, Traviano, European Slate and White
Mystique.
Graham Mercer, Managing Director of Rearo, says: Following months
of research and close collaboration with Polyrey we have chosen six new
decors to bring the total available in our Showerpanel range up to twenty
two.
The choice of Florence Marble and Genoa Marble with their classical
look augment our exisiting range of other highly popular marbles: Rose
Marble, Italian Marble and Black Marble.
Graham went on: The other new designs are equally eye-catching.
Honeystone has a unique look, but is it stone, wood or bamboo? It's hard
to decide!
The Traviano design came through working closely with tile suppliers
and following recent bathroom trends. During our market research, it proved
outstanding favourite.
Graham added: With European Slate we followed on from the overwhelming
success of our Charcoal Slate. In keeping with recent demand for travetine
and limestone effect tiles a three dimensional design was again used,
but in a new shade to reflect the current bathroom look.
Finally, with White Mystique, we have come up with a clean, fresh,
original look that not only complements our existing white decors, but
gives us something more vibrant and altogether unique.

Sublime
Gloss Plum from EDP
The
UK supplier of surfacing materials and components, European
Decorative Products (EDP) is able to offer immediate supply
of the most in vogue foil of the moment - very high gloss pvc flex foil
in rich Plum.
The Pentadecor (Roxan) manufactured foil reflects the strong growing trend
and appetite for these finishes and surfaces. The grain is smooth, flowing
and very discernable while remaining soft and subtle. The effect
of this gloss Plum door in combination with subtle tone carcase panels
is stunning, says EDP's Terry Willett. Ideal board colours
that best offset the gloss Plum are colours like Egger's Alabaster (U104),
their Vanilla (U108) and their elegant Sand Beige (U153).
True to the companys central ethic of customer service, EDP will
be stocking the gloss Plum along with all other significant colour ways
and woodgrains for 2/3 day service in 100m rolls with a respective width
and thickness of 1420mm and 0.5mm.
Other high gloss PET colour ways stocked by EDP are White; Vanilla Cream;
Cappuccino; Bordeaux Red; Sepia; Mocha; Black; Sahara Sand Beige.
EDP's Terry Willett says that customers have come to discern the differences
in surfacing quality and how that translates to the companys products:
Now having the opportunity to source some of the best quality PET
foils in the world from a local supplier in minimum quantities and to
short lead times should give many of the UK's top door and cabinet furniture
manufacturer a distinct advantage. It's a simple phone call away.

Mix
in some Steel Appeal from PWS
Few
can disagree that stainless steel is now a modern day staple of the kitchen
that continues to feature strongly in kitchen design and PWS
has responded with a new range of stainless steel blanks.
Suited to the trend for material mix, the stainless steel blanks are manufactured
from Grade 430 S17 stainless steel and polished to 180/240 grit finish.
Available in 1m, 1.5m and 2m lengths, 620mm wide and 40mm thick the steel
blanks offer flexible options to combine with other materials, finishes
and colours to create a custom-designed look.
Offering a hardwearing, virtually seamless, non-absorbent and easy maintenance
finish, the blanks bring all the advantages of stainless steel worksurfacing,
well known in the commercial and contract catering sectors, to domestic
kitchen installations. As well as their functional appeal the company
says that the blanks are stylish, and tactile, and will create a focal
point in the worksurface scheme.
Including only a zoned area of stainless steel in the worksurface design
takes the hard edge out of the industrial look often associated with steel.
And with the popularity of stainless steel still climbing, it's set to
stay as the preferred metal in the kitchen, so this new range is expected
to rank highly in the designer's product selection.
Comments Philip Eeles, PWS' Worksurface Business Manager, 'Although stainless
steel is still seen as niche worksurface product, this is changing with
the emphasis being placed on using stainless steel in zoned areas of the
kitchen, which reduces the expense while still giving the aesthetic appeal.
Consumers want all the advantages of a stainless steel 'professional'
worksurface solution in domestic kitchen installations. The beauty of
the stainless steel blank is that it creates an instant workstation, suitable
for most modern kitchen settings.

New
Foils for the Modern Idiom
Decorative
Panels'
creative chief Julian Tatham has come up with a new collection of four
foils which, he says, look great in contemporary settings right
across the cabinet furniture spectrum.
Each
of the designs tones with, or complements, PVC foils by key manufacturers
and have the added advantage of availability in Ultra form - that is,
with Decorative Panels' own high specification lacquer finish. Ultra brings
the application range of these new foils within the scope of FIRA 6250
Severe and BS 6222 pt. 3 for high traffic applications, including some
worktops.
Three woodgrains are straight grained 'moderns' that will bring a dash
of lavish style to the contemporary environment and will look equally
at home in traditional or period settings; Mocha is the complementary
unicolour.
Distinctly modern, Ferrara Oak introduces some useful straight grain guidelines
for designers and Cherry Morgana, a tobacco coloured and gently structured
cherry, has a slightly more traditional feel. Rich, warm and colourful
Wisconsin Walnut meets the current and very well defined trend towards
American hardwoods, walnuts in particular, and will look good across a
range of more up market domestic furniture settings.
The new sampling lab at Decorative Panels is now fully functional and
can supply visual samples in the form of laminated card swatches and also
foils laminated to a range of board substrate materials.

DecoClad
from Plaslyne - a Simple and Stylish Solution for Walls and Ceilings
DecoClad
is a simple, stylish interior cladding system from specialist plastics
manufacturer and supplier, Plaslyne. It is suitable for practically any
application including kitchens, bathrooms, washrooms, pools and spa areas,
offices or hotels.
The
extensive range offers a choice of 34 different styles and colours, many
of which are available exclusively from Plaslyne. These include Mosaics,
specially designed for the UK market to feature strong colours with a
good contrast and definition between shades, and Coralli, a collection
of subtle colours with a high gloss finish.
DecoClad panels are easily fixed to walls or ceilings, providing an effective,
clean and attractive alternative to traditional wall coverings such as
tiles, timber panelling and wallpaper. Decorative infills can be used
to form distinct highlights between panels.
Quickly installed on almost any surface, the panels do not require grouting,
producing a smooth, hardwearing, hygienic and easy to maintain surface.
Their hollow construction means the panels provide good insulation and,
because they are warm to the touch, they help to reduce condensation.
In order to produce a neat, professional finish, a self adhesive multi-trim,
colour-coded for a perfect match, is available for many of the colours.
It can be used as a starter trim, internal or external corner.
In addition, the Cladseal bath and shower sealing system provides a simple,
effective, all-in-one solution. The pack includes bath trims, Sealux-N
silicone, mitre box, alcohol wipes, end caps and a spatula, to ensure
a waterproof finish to installations around baths and showers.
David Drew, General Manager of Plaslyne, says: There is a growing
market for decorative cladding, but there are many cheap imports and buyers
need to be aware of poor print quality, colour variations and availability.
At Plaslyne we are confident of supplying a product of exceptional
quality.
DecoClad's accurate printing ensures a professional finish with no 'slip'
of the pattern and consistent colour. And our extensive warehouse facility
means it is always available from stock.
DecoClad is supplied in packs of four 250mm X 2.7 metre panels and carries
a 10-year comprehensive guarantee.
