Sleek Discreet Shower from Marflow

Marflow Engineering has introduced a new addition to its established Trident single lever range.

The thermostatic shower valve is available for concealed and exposed installations and offers independent controls for both temperature and flow.

Two distinctive shower kits are offered with the new valves which incorporate a number of leading edge features.

These include an integral inlet with three position diverter. This allows the water flow to be directed to the fixed 7" overhead shower rose, the hand shower or both at the same time.

The slider rail kit also features an integral water inlet and can be supplied with an optional single spray 'rub-clean' handset or a three spray variable handset.

Integral water inlets allow water to be fed directly into the kit from behind the wall. This creates a neater finish in the shower area for the consumer and is also easier for the plumber to install.

These new thermostatic valves and kits are also available in the contemporary Exena range.

Full details of the new products and the rest of the Trident and Exena ranges are included in the latest Showroom Price Guide issued 01st August 2006. Contact Marflow on 0121 358 1555 for copies.

Shower in Style with Francis Pegler

Bathrooms have evolved from rooms to simply get washed in to havens of relaxation. When your choice of taps and showers is often seen as a refection of personality and taste, the company says that the Francis Pegler Shower range has been designed to deliver the style customers demand coupled with the quality they expect.

'Pegler's move into the competitive shower marketplace with a range of high quality and expertly designed modern showers has made a significant impact with installers and end users alike,' says the company. 'The end user appreciates the quality and design and installers feel more confident installing products from a manufacturer they know and trust.'

The Pegler system allows you to select the shower valve and a showerhead that complements the rest of the bathroom from the Francis Pegler brochure. The whole process has been designed to be as simple as possible, allowing customers to mix and match products as they wish.

For today's style conscious installations, the Tidal range of thermostatic showers are a good choice and look attractive in designer wet rooms. The minimalist exposed fitting 'bar' control and the modern 'capstan lever' both provide precise, easy grip adjustment of water flow and temperature. They also enable you to divert the flow of water to a slider rail handset or any other accessories you may wish to add.

Pegler Product Manager Mike Dickinson said, 'All the showers in the Francis Pegler range have been designed to look fantastic, while also delivering superb performance. Its Performance, not Size that Matters, say's Aquaflow

Now is the time to fit Aquaflow DW water regulators as water meters are becoming mandatory in some drought stricken areas.

Just 2cm long, the DW shower regulator fixes the maximum flow of water through the shower to a pre-set level that stays the same, even when water is used elsewhere in the home. Designed for water supplies at a minimum 1 bar water pressure, the Aquaflow DW regulator comes in a choice of different flow rates, from 6 up to 12 litres per minute.

The DW controls the maximum flow with almost no reduction in water pressure, so multi function sprays and drench showers still work perfectly well. In fact, most bathers never notice the difference. At just 2cm long, the unobtrusive DW water regulator screws into place between shower valve and hose, or the riser pipe and overhead shower. Fitted after the shower valve, the DW is installed without draining the water system. They say that size matters, but at just 2cm long, the little DW regulator does a big job, saving water and reducing hot water bills at a cost that won't break the bank.

The company says that each Francis Pegler design is a work of art in its own right, yet has been designed to be rugged and fit for purpose.

The Galiceno has been finished in chrome to complement any domestic or commercial environment.

This product has been developed to fall comfortably to hand and is covered by a full 10 year guarantee.

Its style and durability make this mixer suitable for modern restaurants where customers can see into the kitchen area and where heavy use can be anticipated.

In a modern designer kitchen needing something extra special, a product like this makes the finishing touch. Kitchens with an 'island' sink area also benefit from a sink tap that makes a strong statement.

Pegler Product Manager Mike Dickinson said:

'The style of the Galiceno has already attracted a great deal of comment and interest. It is a distinct addition to our luxury range of taps and mixers and provides a radical and bold alternative for customers to choose at an affordable price.'

Access - at Your Service 24-7

Aquaflow Access control valves are the same size as a conventional stop valve, but whereas a stop valve may not be used from one year's end to the next, an Access valve is constantly at work, saving water, improving distribution, reducing wastage and cutting costs.

Access includes a built in stop ball valve, inside which is an Aquaflow water regulator. Designed for water systems operating between 1 bar and 10 bar water pressure, the Aquaflow water regulator fixes the maximum flow rate through the valve to a predetermined level. As a result, outlets nearest the source cannot starve those further down the line, ensuring everyone the correct water supply. Limiting the maximum flow to a preset level cuts wastage - often by over 25%. This saves fuel by reducing hot water demand; cuts wastage and also metered water and sewage charges.

Available in preset flow rates from 4 to 18 litres per minute, Access valves meet a wide range of service requirements. A unique side entry facility allows access to the regulator when the ball stop valve is turned to the off position, so the regulator can be removed for flushing the system, or changed should a different flow rate be required without the need to break pipework or drain the system.

'Like stop valves, Access are fit and forget items, with one important difference; Access control valves are at your service every day of the year, saving water and fuel; a much better investment than the traditional stop valve.' says Aquaflow.

The range includes a wet room enclosure, a practical solution for today's preference for a walk-in shower area. The typical wet room allows extra space for manoeuvring whilst showering, providing drainage in the floor and a fully tiled surround for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Effective Protection from Bacterial Infection is Now on Tap

You only have to pick up a newspaper or turn on the television to read and see an increasing number of reports concerning hospital infections and so called super-bugs.

If you could apply a coating to items that are handled regularly that would destroy these bugs on contact, then a great stride forward would have been made. With the development of the Kliniklene system from Pegler, this solution is now available for use in hospitals.

The government has made stamping out these bacterial infections in hospitals a major priority and with reported incidents of MRSA on the up, cleanliness in hospitals has become a key NHS target set by the Department of Health.

There are two specific government policy initiatives designed to combat 'health care acquired infection'. One involves much more rigourous cleaning and disinfection proceedures and the other is the development of new technology.

Sophisticated cleaning schedules have now been introduced in the majority of hospitals, complete with a corresponding campaign to inform the general public to respect cleaning proceedures and while this has had a significant impact, many have looked to new technology to provide long term answers.

The main obstacle to this development has been the difficulty in applying such a permanent coating to materials like metals that usually resist any coating, but with this issue overcome, hospitals can now benefit from a range of products capable of killing common bacterial infections on contact, including MRSA.

The results of the Antimicrobial Activity Efficacy tests over a 24-hour period are impressive. All the most common bacteria are virtually eradicated and certainly dealt with well in excess of the 95% target set by the NHS.

Doncaster based Pegler limited has been instrumental in developing such products, and Marketing Manager Phill Jackson said, ‘Our Kliniklene is not a coating that is 'sprayed on' - it is as much a part of the products as the chromium plating. The new finish has been tested with cleaners using a typical cleaning regime, with hypochlorite based cleaners such as bleach - and it still retains its high degree of effectiveness.’

The liklihood is that many more products will be developed with such a coating in the coming years and a variety of applications can be envisaged. Already a range of products are available in the Performa Healthcare selection of taps and mixers, designed to meet virtually any requirement in a hospital or broader health care environment.

With products of this type becoming more commonplace, we can all look forward to seeing marked reductions in cases of super-bugs in our hospitals in years to come as the number of these products throughout the NHS increases.
