Shower in Style with Bohle

An all-glass shower enclosure lends an air of space and elegance to any bathroom, but finding smart and functional fittings to complete the look can be a problem. Now Bohle, a leading supplier to the glass industry, has developed ‘Europe’ – its first own manufactured range of shower door hinges, developed exclusively for glass shower doors.

Europe shower door hinges have been designed for easy one-sided wall mounting, or for attaching glass-to-glass as required. They are suitable for use with glass shower doors up to 100cm wide, with glass thicknesses of up to 10mm.

There’s a choice of three different finishes to complement any bathroom décor, from a shiny chrome or matt chrome plated to stainless steel look. And to complete the co-ordinated effect, clamps and corner connectors are all available in the same finishes, together with matching coloured caps to cover screws neatly and securely.

In addition to a stylish design, Europe shower door hinges utilise the latest technology to reduce water leakage. The narrow gap in the swinging axle of the door means less water can escape during a shower, so your bathroom floor stays dry.

Bohle’s new Europe shower door hinges also address a familiar and annoying problem. After being in use for a while, a shower door will settle, which adversely affects the zero positioning set during installation. Many conventional shower door hinges do not allow for any adjustment, but Europe hinges can be adjusted individually by + / - 5o and can be easily re-set at any time, even after prolonged use.

Gary Dean, Managing Director of Bohle UK, comments, ‘Bohle has been a supplier of shower door hinges for many years and now we’ve applied that experience to producing our own brand range. With a patent pending for our solution to re-setting the zero position, Europe shower door hinges really do represent state-of-the-art style and functionality.’

Aqualisa Unveils New Quartz Shower Family

‘It’s difficult to believe it was only four years ago that Aqualisa’s Quartz Digital sent ripples through the showering industry.’ says the company. ‘Challenging the concept of traditional showering systems and providing an altogether smarter, sleeker option for installers and consumers alike, Digital is now widely regarded as the future of showering. And with Digital sales having exceeded 100,000 showers, it’s been an impressive few years for Aqualisa by anyone’s standards.’

However, this type of technology doesn’t stand still and this year’s Expo saw the debut of a new and expanded family of
Aqualisa Quartz showers – two Digital designs and a new Thermo.

Available as a concealed or exposed design, Quartz Digital’s looks have been subtly refined – a tweak here, a nip there. In fact, look quickly and the changes might not be immediately apparent. Yet, take a second glance and a slightly softer, more grown-up Quartz Digital will reveal itself. There’s a matt finish to the shower control’s stop/start button, a smart laser-etched Aqualisa logo and that all-important Digital trademark – the flashing light on the shower’s control is now blue.

Aqualisa’s Marketing Manager Jan Rowarth says,
‘Quartz Digital has been an immense success since its launch in 2001 and we have effectively been responsible for creating the Digital genre of showering. However, although we might have instigated the demand for Digital, we are also firm believers in continuing to develop and refine both product design and function. Consumer tastes are constantly evolving and to reflect this, the introduction of Axis Digital last year, and Aqualisa’s own new corporate identity, we decided to freshen up Quartz Digital’s styling.’

However, while the looks might have matured, Quartz Digital’s function and various versatile configurations have stayed the same. There’s still the option of a concealed or exposed design and showers are available as ‘standard’ or ‘pumped’ units, making them suitable for the majority of UK domestic plumbing systems, including gravity-fed, Mains-fed or combination boilers.

Quartz Digital Exposed continues to be the solution for difficult retrofits – its riser-mounted control allows installation without any damage to existing tiling and can be accomplished in just a couple of hours – whilst Quartz Digital Concealed remains suitable for everything from new builds to en suites.

The option of a remote switch for both Quartz Digital showers is also still available – although, like the shower’s main start/stop control – it too now features a blue light. Body jets can be fitted to Quartz Digital Exposed and adjustable-height, anti-scale shower heads come as standard with both designs of shower.

So, with Quartz Digital sporting up-to-the-minute styling, what’s new on the Thermo front?

Step forward Quartz Thermo, the latest result of Aqualisa’s long-term collaboration with feted product designers, Seymour Powell.

Completing Aqualisa’s Quartz family of showers, Quartz Thermo complements the rounded, tactile form of its Digital siblings, while concealing Aqualisa’s bi-metallic valve technology.

The bi-metallic valve reacts almost immediately to fluctuations within hot and cold water temperature – guaranteeing delivery of a perfectly accurate, thermostatically controlled shower every time. More effective than a wax cartridge, the bi-metallic valve also resists limescale – allowing more water to flow to the Quartz Thermo’s shower head. And, for peace of mind, Quartz Thermo will shut down completely should the hot or cold water flows fail.

The new Quartz Thermo is compatible with nearly all types of UK domestic plumbing system – including gravity-fed, Mains-fed and combination boiler – and comes complete with a height-adjustable, anti-scaling shower head.

Over the Moon with Trevi

When European shower and valve manufacturer Trevi Showers asked the British public what it wanted in a shower kit and then passed the results onto award-winning London design house Studio Levien, the result was Trevi Moonshadow.

‘In Moonshadow, Robin Levien and Trevi Showers have transformed the shower kit into a modern piece of bathroom design that is bound to be a top-seller to the consumer.’ says the company.

It is a winner in satisfying performance and installation needs as well - the company declares that ‘Installers, Specifiers and Bathroom Designers will really appreciate the new technical aspects of this very clever design.’

Amongst its collection of models, the Moonshadow range features a completely new invention in control valves, as well as fitting adjustment to take account of less than perfect first fix pipe work or uneven wall surface and accepts water supply from any direction.

The Moonshadow range is available in six options making it a suitable choice for bathroom refits, new-build or retro-fit installations. Dependent upon the model chosen, water supply can come from the ceiling and be directed to the showerhead via the insulated slide rail.

Alternatively water supply can be through the wall, either from a wall-elbow straight into the hose, or via the lower wall bracket – both solutions being suitable in a ‘replacement’ or new installation.

Moonshadow’s comprehensive list of benefits includes its brass construction to ensure quality - concealed and adjustable fixings for installations when the slide rail spans a tiling installation or if the walls are simply out of true. Moonshadow also has an adjustable water connector to enable installation if existing inlet pipes are not level.

The full Moonshadow range, which is shown in the new Trevi Showers Brochure, includes - Top Connection Kit; Base Bracket Connection Kit; Fixed Riser Kit (Concealed Valve); Fixed Riser Kit (Exposed Valve) and Standard Connection Kit, and the In-Line Valve Kit, which brings Ideal Standard’s latest invention into the shower-kits arena.

This new shower kit carries both a fixed showerhead and a flexible hand set – on any other shower kit you can use one or the other, with the Trevi Showers in-line valve both can be used at the same time. Patented by Trevi Showers the new in-line valve was developed following an idea that sprung from the company’s programme of supporting design education at a local University.

Essence: Minimalist Bathroom Brassware and Accessories from Grohe

'Clear geometric shapes, reduced to the essential' - this is what Grohe says that its new 'Essence' range of bathroom taps is all about. In line with the latest trends towards a new kind of clarity, the new series of fittings from Grohe focuses on the cylinder as the key element of design. The rectangular arrangement of the body, spout and lever underlines an emotional functionality which leads the fitting back to its origin - the straight lines of the minimalist water dispenser deliberately lack traditional decorative elements that would only distract from the pure function.

Inside the spout of the tap is an aerator that enables the water to flow in a soft and effortless manner. The spout opening is also concealed, giving a unusual angled trajectory to the water.

Each Grohe tap is tested 22,500 times – the equivalent of a family of four operating it four times daily for twenty + years – before it is deemed good enough to bear the Grohe name.

Essence: the new Grohe range of single lever mixers for washbasins, bidets, showers and baths.

Roman Allows Bath to Meet Shower

Roman, the UK shower manufacturer, has devised a new design for all those indecisive bath/shower lovers.

The Orbital Sliding Bath Enclosure is a flexible and stylish way to make an alcove into a watertight recess suitable for over-bath showering and tough enough even for the more powerful showers. The unit has a modern minimalist look very much in the fashion of today.

The enclosure is a complete screen fitted across the length of the bath with double sliding doors, which open in the centre. It provides a flexible and stylish way to make a water-tight alcove, suitable for over-bath showering and secluded bathing.

When a high pressure showering system is fitted over a bath, the bath enclosure is the only way of ensuring total watertight integrity.

Water leakage is avoided using the Orbital Sliding Bath Enclosure, which is elegantly styled featuring clear 6mm glass and frameless doors with curved bolt through handles.

Using only the highest standard in materials and with a modern minimalist design, Roman’s new bath enclosure is the flexible bath and shower solution.

David Osborne, Marketing Director of Roman Ltd said, 'Sceptics would say that with the recent popularity of shower enclosures, bath enclosures are outdated. But, there will always be a market for bath enclosures, since people want the flexibility of being able to take a bath or a shower. We believe with the Orbital Sliding Bath Enclosure we can provide a solution which caters for this and is an up to date modern design.'

Triumphant Form & Function

‘The stylish new Intatherm is a triumphant blend of form and function.’ says the company. ‘Until now, controlling the temperature of hot water on basins has meant either a concealed valve, or a bulky, ugly tap, but Intatherm has changed all that.’ It’s an anti-scald pillar tap, awaiting TMV3 approval, and it meets the requirements of HTM64, 2027 and 2040. There’s no need for pre-mixed water and because it’s a universal fit in pillar tap holes it’s easy to install. Plus, it is serviceable from above without dismantling, so it’s easy to maintain.

Sequential operation simply means water flows from cold to hot, to a pre-set maximum of 41¾c with the turn of the single lever.

Cynthia Fisher of manufacturers Inta said ‘We set out to design a thermostatic tap that would be ideal for Doc M installations, especially in public areas. Happily, what our engineering team have come up with not only technically excellent, but is extremely stylish too.’

Intatherm works on high or low pressure systems and has a consistent flow rate on temperature setting.

Intatherm is the latest addition to a range by Inta, designed to inspire confidence in thermostatic control through safety, quality and design. Inta’s other TMV2 and TMV3 accredited products include thermostatic mixing valves and shower valves, a bath shower mixer, infra red taps and a variety of accessories. In fact, everything you would need to comply with hot water regulations in a care environment.
