D R Services Delivers the Seamless Shower Enclosure

Following 18 months of development work, D R Services has now introduced a shower enclosure offering two products that can be used together to completely remove visible metal framing elements from the installation.

The solution is founded on a made-to-measure shower tray that features a continuous rebated slot, into which the glass sides are fitted. These are secured with an unseen silicone mastic seal.

The shower tray can be manufactured to suit either a two-sided or a three-sided enclosure with the only limitation being that the long side, where the door is hung in the middle, must be at least one metre long.

The door - fabricated from the same 10 mm thick toughened glass as the walls - is fitted using minimalist hinges that each require only a pair of holes drilled in the glass, rather than a notch. This represents a saving of £18 per hinge for the installer. The hinges themselves are produced in solid stainless steel, brushed, matt or polished. Being a sound quality base metal they can also be painted or gold plated.

The other introduction into the D R Services range is its new dry fix channel.
This uses a metal profile concealed in the wall, with a continuous clear silicone gasket system to retain the 10 mm glass. Once the profile is secured, installation takes just a few minutes as the glass is aligned against the soft L-shaped silicone gasket while the dry wedge is driven home with a length of timber and a rubber mallet.

The glass is instantly held so solidly that it cannot be deglazed without first removing the wedge section and the doors can therefore be hung immediately.
Director of D R Services, Julie Jarvis, comments: 'The new shower tray is a development of the double level door threshold we introduced last year. It permits the installation of a totally seal free, completely watertight shower cubicle.

'Together with the availability of the new dry fix channel and the bespoke selection of finishes for the tray we can now offer customers a stylish and elegant shower enclosure free of visible metal framing. What is more the simplicity of the design enables the installer to complete the work in a single visit to site.

Manufactured in white as standard, the shower tray can be ordered in pastel shades as well as stone finishes such as honed granite, or even colour matched to a sample of some other element to the bathroom interior like a ceramic wall tile.

Also available is Classi-seal, a guaranteed seal to fit under the wall finish and onto the back of the shower tray, sealing against leaks at this vulnerable joint.

Merlyn Unveils New Ranges

Merlyn Industries has added to the company’s portfolio of shower enclosures with the launch of The Series 5 + and ‘Vivid by Merlyn’.

Series 5 + currently has 15 models in the new range, each with clean lines, minimalist appeal, and polished chrome fixings and contemporary handles. The range includes favourites such as the Offset Quadrant, and the Corner Door as well as flexible new shapes including the new 1200 Bow Type, and the Bow Type 760 side panel.

One development of the range is 8mm glass used where possible in preference to 6mm. The company says that retailer support for the Series 5 + will be massive; the ‘easy installation’ (less than 1 hour) promise, the dedicated brochure, free shop fitting service, attractive POS material, full product training and a dedicated office contact. Dana Davies, MD of Merlyn UK says, ‘The Series 5+ has been introduced to our collection in response to our customers' needs, and we know it will be well received. The Series 5+ stands head and shoulders above any comparable competitor range. It encompasses the trusted Merlyn brand values (style, value and performance) with an up to the minute, modern edge.’

The nine enclosures in the Vivid by Merlyn range are competitively priced with an ‘aspirational designer look’, and come with a ten-year guarantee. Special features across the range include fully cushioned magnetic door seals, designer look chrome handles and an easy clean waste system with adjustable double twin rollers. All products are finished in highly polished chrome - designed to meet the need for modern and stylish enclosures at an affordable price.

The new range has something for everyone but the ‘Universal Walk-In’ is tipped to be a best seller. Tony Lever who has been promoted to National Sales Manager for Vivid says, ‘It's important that the latest trends in shower enclosures are made accessible to everyone. We haven't compromised on style in favour of affordability - the Vivid offers both. The range is modern, practical, and aesthetically works well too!’

Vivid by Merlyn will sold via West Yorkshire based Distributor Frontline which has been awarded contract for the midlands and the north. Director Stuart Greenwood says, ‘We are very excited to have been selected by Merlyn for the company’s first foray into the ‘distributor sell’. Our successful distribution formula (20 dedicated vehicles and our 300,000 brochures) will ensure that Vivid by Merlyn is one of the most sought after enclosure ranges.’

Series 5+, unlike Vivid by Merlyn, will take the usual route to the UK market, via the Merlyn sales force. Following Tony Levers' promotion from regional sales manager, Michael Jones has been appointed to look after the North East and Scotland.

Modern Classic Styling ‘On Tap’ with Imperial Bathrooms’ New Brassware Range

Imperial Bathrooms’ new product development programme continues to unfold with the launch of three new ranges of brassware – Regent, Edwardian and Damonte. Designed to complement the company’s existing brassware and ever-expanding line-up of baths and sanitaryware, these models provide classical and modern design solutions, while incorporating the latest in technology and attention to detail.

While the Regent and Edwardian brassware ranges are designed to appeal to those who appreciate classic and traditional styling, the contemporary Damonte range bears the hallmarks of Italian design with its modern lines and styling. Engineered from solid brass and protected by a deeply polished chrome plate or antique gold finish, all ranges have quarter-turn ceramic disc valves for smooth operation and options to suit bath, bidet and basin requirements.

Antonio Garrido, Managing Director of Imperial Bathrooms, explains: 'While these three new brassware ranges are testimony to the company’s ethos – ‘A Modern Classic’ - they are also reflective of the diversity of consumer tastes that currently prevail in the marketplace. However, the one thing that remains unchanged is our unwavering commitment to providing products of outstanding and superior quality to meet the needs of the more discerning customer.'

Regent & Edwardian
Also suitable for contemporary suites, the classic Regent has a variety of options. For the basin these include a choice of three hole or Monobloc mixer, both complete with pop up waste, and 1/2” pillar taps. A bath shower mixer, deck mounted and complete with shower kit or 3/4” pillar taps are available for the bath. A Monobloc bidet mixer with pop up waste completes the Regent line-up. The classic cross-head Edwardian brassware range also has all the same options as the Regent.

Damonte
The contemporary Damonte range offers the following options: a choice of three models for the basin that includes a three hole mixer with pop up waste and a Monobloc mixer available with either click clack or pop up waste. Moonstruck by Trevi's New Shower Kits

Designs from award winning London design house Studio Levien for Trevi showers, by Ideal Standard, featured at the 100% Design exhibition.

Levien has moved the Trevi shower kit design away from the extremes of minimalism that we have seen in recent years toward softer - and what he describes as 'more human' - shapes. The smooth profile hoses allow Levien to create liquidity in the overall profile of his design and the large droplet shaped shower heads continue the fluid theme.

This new Trevi range, named Moonshadow, bristles with practical design ideas - and introduces Ideal Standard's newly invented In-Line Valve which allows individual control to either shower-head. The choice of connection to pipe-work has been designed to be as versatile as possible with an option of six Moonshadow shower kits to suit any installation need. There is built-in adjustment in the fixing brackets to allow for connection to uneven walls, with a tolerance of up to 9mm.

Another illustration of the 'human' design thinking shows in the extended length of shower hose. Moonshadow has been designed longer (150cms as opposed to the normal 135cms) to accommodate taller individuals and to extend the hose further for shorter people, or children!

The Moonshadow collection includes the following shower kits: 'In-line Valve' shower kit; Top Connection shower kit; Base Bracket shower kit; Standard Connection shower kit; Fixed Riser shower kit for exposed valves; and Fixed Riser shower kit for built-in valves.
